In this behind-the-scenes featurette, the cast and creative team of Netflix's series Atypical share personal insight and discuss the universal themes of this new comedy series with heart. Atypical launches on Netflix Friday, August 11.

Atypical is a coming of age story told from the unique perspective of Sam (played by Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum as he searches for love and independence.
Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as Sam's mother, Elsa, who is on her own journey of self-discovery as her son realizes more independence. Michael Rapaport plays his father, Doug, who longs to build a closer relationship with Sam. Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Sam's scrappy sister, Casey, and Amy Okuda plays his therapist, Julia.
Premiering with eight episodes on August 11, Atypical was created and written by Robia Rashid (How I Met Your Mother).
