Video: A Few Minutes With... "The Next" Mentor John Rich - Part 2 of 2
By Jim Halterman (TFC)

While all the networks continue to churn out their own reality singing competition singers, The CW's "The Next" joins in by bringing together four established music stars - Gloria Estefan, Nelly, Joe Jonas and Country singer John Rich - to mentor up-and-coming singers with each episode featuring a different American city. The celebrity mentors their singers for 72 hours and (and here's the twist) also moves in with the singer and becomes entrenched in their lives. For example, in the premiere we see Estefan mow the grass, Jonas babysit 15 children and Nelly sell sunglasses.

For each city visited, post-72 hours of mentoring, the singers will perform for an audience (at the House of Blues in the premiere) that decides which singer will move on in the competition and who will go home. Eventually the winners of each of the cities will come together in Los Angeles for a battle round to establish the next big music star. Our Jim Halterman ventured to the legendary Orpheum Theater in Downtown Los Angeles yesterday to grab a few minutes with each of the mentors to find out how they became a part of the project as well as what audiences will see throughout the competition.

And here's the complete index of all the interviews from the event:
