Season to Date, 'Nightline' Is Posting Gains in Total Viewers

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (739,000) and Adults 25-54 (170,000) during the week of July 17, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" took the top spot, beating CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in both demos for the 11th straight week.

"Nightline" saw gains from the previous week in Total Viewers (+11% - 739,000 vs. 664,000) and Adults 25-54 (+6% - 170,000 vs. 161,000), hitting a 5-week high in the key Adult news demo ― since w/o 6/12/23.

Season to date, "Nightline" is growing compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+2% - 889,000 vs. 868,000). In addition, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.

This week "Nightline" covered the "Barbie" cast talking about bringing the iconic doll to the big screen; SAG-AFTRA strikes; an arrest of a suspect responsible for the Gilgo Beach murders; Christopher Nolan's highly-anticipated film "Oppenheimer"; a new biography about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis titled "Jackie: Public, Private, Secret"; Beyonce fans flocking overseas to avoid high concert costs; how extreme heat threatens Florida's reef, the continental U.S.' only coral reef system; and more.

NOTE: CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was retitled to "The Late Late Show-JC-ENC" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Seth Meyers-SM." The retitled telecasts are excluded from the season averages.
