Monday's Broadcast Ratings: National Championship Game Wins Big for CBS

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/8/19):

CBS (13.606 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.6, #1) eclipsed the competition on Monday thanks to its primetime coverage of the "NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship Game" (16.236 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.4, #1). Leading off the night were a repeat "The Big Bang Theory" (8.485 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) and the pre-game special "Capital One Championship Central" (8.206 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2).

NBC (6.423 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then was a distant second with new episodes of "The Voice" (7.523 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) and "The Enemy Within" (4.222 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #6).

Next up was ABC (5.370 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with fresh installments from "American Idol" (6.403 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) and "The Fix" (3.304 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.539 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) opted for repeats of "The Resident" (2.512 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7) and "9-1-1" (2.565 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7).

And finally, a new "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (0.985 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10) and a repeat "Arrow" (0.428 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.1, #11) rounded out the night on The CW (0.706 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.3/2; "Late Show," delayed by an NCAA overrun; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," delayed by an NCAA overrun. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.2/2 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," delayed by an NCAA overrun.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.5/3 in metered-market households and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/9/18):

NBC (8.005 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was still the network to beat on Monday with fresh installments of "The Voice" (9.752 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) and "Good Girls" (4.512 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3).

ABC (6.592 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was the silver draw with a new "American Idol" (7.630 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) and week two of "The Crossing" (4.517 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6).

Next up was CBS (5.157 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its original lineup of "Kevin Can Wait" (5.831 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T4), "Man with a Plan" (5.530 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T4), "Superior Donuts" (4.884 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6), "Living Biblically" (3.861 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #9) and "Scorpion" (5.417 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #8).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.688 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) again opted for repeats of "Lucifer" (1.685 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T10) and "The Resident" (1.692 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #12).

And finally, the season finale of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.429 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T10) and a new "iZombie" (0.799 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #13) rounded out the evening on The CW (1.114 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).
