Friday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Viewers, Splits Demo Crown

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/17/18):

NBC (3.252 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T1) was the most-watched network on Friday despite its repeat duo of "American Ninja Warrior" (3.172 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) and "Dateline NBC" (3.412 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2).

Second place then went to ABC (3.087 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T1) with its special "WE Day" (2.813 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7) followed by a new "What Would You Do?" (3.106 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) and a repeat "20/20" (3.341 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2).

Next up was CBS (2.985 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T1) with originals from "TKO: Total Knock Out" (3.400 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #1), "Whistleblower" (2.998 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) and another "Whistleblower" (2.557 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.472 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) offered up its coverage of "BIG3" (1.472 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9).

And finally, a new "Masters of Illusion" (1.596 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9) along with repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (1.516 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.537 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11) rounded out the night on The CW (1.547 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/18/17):

CBS (4.485 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1) was the top draw on a tight Friday with its mix of "Big Brother 19" (5.083 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1), "Hawaii Five-0" (3.772 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) and "Blue Bloods" (4.599 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9).

NBC (3.810 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) then was a close second despite repeats of "America's Got Talent" (3.800 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) and "Dateline NBC" (3.832 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2).

Next up was ABC (3.381 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) and its trio of "Shark Tank" (3.548 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3), "Primetime: What Would You Do?" (3.194 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) and "20/20" (3.403 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.492 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) served up encores of "MasterChef" (2.608 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) and "Beat Shazam" (2.375 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3).

And finally, a new "Masters of Illusion" (1.063 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) and repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (0.967 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.918 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) rounded out the evening on The CW (0.966 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).
