Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Edges Tight Demo Race with NBC, FOX

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (11/29/17):

CBS (7.254 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) edged out a demo victory on Wednesday thanks to a new "Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers" (8.594 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1), a second "Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers" (7.806 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2) and "Bruno Mars: 24k Magic Live at the Apollo" (5.364 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T10).

NBC (7.676 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then was a close second with its trio of "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" (9.014 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (7.109 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #6) and "Chicago PD" (6.908 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #8).

FOX (4.377 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) likewise was in the hunt with new episodes from "Empire" (5.076 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T4) and "Star" (3.679 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.2, #9).

Meanwhile, ABC (4.757 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up originals from "The Goldbergs" (5.609 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #7), "Speechless" (4.185 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T10), "Modern Family" (6.132 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T4), "American Housewife" (4.531 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #12) and "Designated Survivor" (4.042 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13).

And finally, new episodes of "Riverdale" (1.400 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) and "Dynasty" (0.695 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) over on The CW (1.047 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) rounded out the night.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.4/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/3.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (11/30/16):

FOX (7.120 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) was the demo champ on Wednesday with fresh installments from "Lethal Weapon" (6.425 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.6, #8) and "Empire" (7.817 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.8, #1).

NBC (11.192 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then was the number two draw with its specials "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" (10.512 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5) and "Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love" (11.532 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5).

Next up was ABC (5.668 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) and its original lineup of "The Goldbergs" (5.896 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5), "Speechless" (4.931 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.5, #9), "Modern Family" (6.786 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2), "Black-ish" (5.430 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4) and "Designated Survivor" (5.483 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T11).
