Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Rides NFL to Thanksgiving Victory

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (11/23/17):

NBC (14.370 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.2, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday with its Thanksgiving editions of "Football Night in America" (11.697 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 3.2, #2) and "Sunday Night Football" (14.904 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.4, #1).

CBS (8.130 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then was a distant second with a repeat "The Big Bang Theory" (12.074 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.9, #3) followed by originals from "Young Sheldon" (11.284 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.6, #4), "Mom" (7.972 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5), "Life in Pieces" (5.910 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6) and "SWAT" (5.769 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7).

Next up was ABC (2.456 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T3) and repeats of "Kevin (Probably) Saves the World" (1.948 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12), "The Good Doctor" (2.700 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9) and another "The Good Doctor" (2.722 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #8).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.461 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T3) likewise offered up second runs of "Gotham" (1.362 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9) and "The Orville" (1.561 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9).

And finally, The CW (1.160 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) opted to close out the night with originals from "Supernatural" (1.206 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) and "Arrow" (1.113 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.3, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," a 1.5 rating in metered-market households, delayed by an NFL overrun; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.7 in 18-49, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly," delayed by an NFL overrun, averaged a 0.9 rating in metered-market households and a 0.4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (11/24/16):

NBC (17.850 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.8, #1) was the holiday champ on Thursday with its special editions of "Football Night in America" (14.386 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 4.7, #2) and "Sunday Night Football" (18.543 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 6.1, #1).

FOX (4.877 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then was the silver draw with "NFL Overrun/Rosewood" (6.689 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #3) and a repeat "Pitch" (3.066 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7).

Next up was CBS (5.500 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with a repeat "The Big Bang Theory" (7.191 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) alongside new episodes of "The Great Indoors" (5.225 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "Mom" (5.809 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "Life in Pieces" (5.296 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7) and "Pure Genius" (4.740 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #10).
