Friday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Slips Into Top Spot Among Adults 18-49

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/21/17):

NBC (4.526 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1) claimed the demo crown on Friday with new episodes of "First Dates" (3.524 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4) and "Dateline NBC" (5.027 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1).

ABC (3.955 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then was a close second with its mix of "The Toy Box" (3.140 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6), "Shark Tank" (4.478 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) and "20/20" (4.248 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3).

Next up was CBS (5.845 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) and its repeat lineup of "MacGyver" (5.177 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4), "Hawaii Five-0" (5.866 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6) and "Blue Bloods" (6.492 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.396 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up a new "Rosewood" (2.782 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6) and a repeat "Lethal Weapon" (2.011 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #10).

And finally, second runs of "The Originals" (1.045 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11) and "Reign" (0.907 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #12) rounded out the night on The CW (0.976 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/1 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/22/16):

ABC (5.449 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1) was the adults 18-49 champ on Friday thanks to the season finales of "Last Man Standing" (5.907 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) and "Dr. Ken" (4.638 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) plus originals from "Shark Tank" (5.339 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) and "20/20" (5.735 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1).

CBS (6.987 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then was a close second with new episodes of "The Amazing Race" (5.458 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) and "Hawaii Five-0" (7.861 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) alongside a repeat "Blue Bloods" (7.642 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6).

Next up was NBC (3.819 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its trio of "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (3.418 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11), "Grimm" (4.006 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and "Dateline NBC" (4.032 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.385 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up a repeat "Hell's Kitchen" (1.771 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12) and an original "Hell's Kitchen" (2.999 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6).

And finally, a new "The Vampire Diaries" (1.417 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T12) and an encore "Containment" (1.167 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) on The CW (1.291 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night.
