Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Shares Demo Crown with NBC

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/16/16):

CBS (8.342 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) took home top honors on Friday with its mix of "MacGyver" (7.771 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.333 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) and a repeat "Blue Bloods" (7.924 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

NBC (4.754 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) then shared in the demo crown with new episodes from "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (3.948 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7) and "Dateline NBC" (5.157 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3).

Next up was ABC (4.922 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) and its combination of "Last Man Standing" (6.803 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1), "Dr. Ken" (4.586 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7), a repeat "Shark Tank" (3.929 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #10) and "20/20" (5.142 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.561 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up the Thursday-bound "Hell's Kitchen" (3.277 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and the season finale of "The Exorcist" (1.844 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #11).

And finally, The CW (1.434 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening with "The 85th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade" (1.434 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #12).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.0/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.6/5 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.3/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/18/15):

NBC (4.899 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) was the top draw on Friday with its duo of "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (3.406 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7) and "Dateline NBC" (5.646 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T1).

CBS (4.759 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) then claimed the silver with its holiday mix of "Frosty the Snowman" (4.641 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3), "Frosty Returns" (4.096 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4), "Home for the Holidays" (3.286 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10) and a repeat "Blue Bloods" (6.623 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5).

Next up was FOX (2.871 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) with a new "MasterChef Junior" (3.941 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T1) and the season finale of "World's Funniest" (1.803 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.561 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up repeats of "Last Man Standing" (4.614 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7), "Yes, Virginia" (2.627 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #12), "Shark Tank" (3.738 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5) and a new "20/20" (3.326 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7).

And finally, encores of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" (1.397 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.343 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) on The CW (1.369 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
