Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: Special "The Voice" Sparks Victory for NBC

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/9/16):

NBC (7.250 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) took home top honors on Wednesday with its two-hour special "The Voice: The Best of the Blind Auditions" (9.135 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) followed by a sneak preview of "The Carmichael Show" (4.150 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6) and a repeat "The Carmichael Show" (2.812 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12).

CBS (6.062 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then claimed the silver with its trio of "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" (9.169 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1), "The Victoria's Secret Swim Special" (3.053 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12) and "CSI: Cyber" (5.964 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9).

Next up was ABC (4.212 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) and its repeat lineup of "The Middle" (4.868 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6), "The Goldbergs" (4.204 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T6), "Modern Family" (4.625 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3) and "Black-ish" (4.259 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3) plus the season finale of "American Crime" (3.659 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.746 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) offered up originals from "Rosewood" (3.756 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10) and "Hell's Kitchen" (3.736 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3).

And finally, repeats of "Arrow" (1.172 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) and "Supernatural" (1.028 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) on The CW (1.100 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore) tied CBS's first-run "Late Late Show" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/11/15):

FOX (12.022 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.0, #1) was still the network to beat on Wednesday with new episodes of "American Idol" (9.313 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2) and "Empire" (14.731 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.6, #1).

CBS (9.817 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) then was a distant second place with its trio of "Survivor: Worlds Apart" (9.375 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #3), "Criminal Minds" (10.376 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #4) and "CSI: Cyber" (9.700 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5).

Next up was ABC (3.990 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its second run mix of "The Goldbergs" (4.607 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8), another "The Goldbergs" (4.316 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8), "Modern Family" (5.089 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T6), the special "Black-ish: Bloop-ish" (4.589 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T6) and a rebroadcast of "American Crime" (2.670 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.448 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up repeats of "The Mysteries of Laura" (4.917 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.719 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) and "Chicago PD" (4.708 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10).

And finally, a repeat "Arrow" (1.186 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) and the season finale of "The 100" (1.317 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14) on The CW (1.251 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.4 rating while the latter posted a 0.3 rating.
