Packers-Cardinals Is the NFL's #2 Highest-Rated Primetime Divisional Playoff Game Ever in Metered-Market Households
NBC spins the numbers for Saturday, January 16.

[via press release from NBC]

PACKERS-CARDINALS IS THE NFL'S #2 HIGHEST-RATED PRIMETIME DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF GAME EVER IN METERED-MARKET HOUSEHOLDS

"SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE' DELIVERS ITS BEST LOCAL 18-49 RATING IN TWO YEARS

WITH ADAM DRIVER AND MUSICAL GUESTS CHRIS STAPLETON, "SNL" GRABS ITS HIGHEST DEMO RESULT SINCE JANUARY 2014

Regarding this morning's Nielsens, note that the fast-national ratings that came in at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT are not time zone-adjusted and typically understate live NFL telecasts. Despite that, NBC is #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox by wide margins in all key measures adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers.

· In metered-market results, which accurately reflect time-zone adjustments, last night's Green Bay Packers-Arizona Cardinals NFL Playoff telecast averaged a 20.3 rating, 34 share from 8:15-11:45 p.m. ET in household results from the 56 markets metered by Nielsen Media Research, as NBC won primetime by wide margins in metered-market households and in 18-49 in the Local People Meter markets.

· It's the second-best rating ever for a primetime NFL Divisional Playoff game, behind only the Broncos-Patriots matchup in 2012 (20.6/34).

· NBC's 20.3/34 is up +8% from last year's primetime Saturday Divisional Playoff (18.8/31 for Panthers-Seahawks on Fox).

· The Packers-Cardinals overnight rating peaked at a 23.4/42 from 11:30-11:45 p.m. ET for the game's dramatic conclusion in overtime.

· NBC posted a 20+ rating in the metered markets with both of its NFL playoff games for first time since acquiring the "Sunday Night Football" package in 2006.

· Top local ratings for the Packers-Cardinals game on NBC were: Milwaukee, 48.0/71; Phoenix, 37.9/60; Minneapolis, 30.8/52; Seattle, 29.6/49; Las Vegas, 27.8/42; Albuquerque, 27.7/43; Denver, 27.7/49; Norfolk, 25.3/38; Buffalo, 24.5/37; and New Orleans 24.0/36.

In Late-Night Metered-Market Household Averages for Saturday night:

· "Saturday Night Live" has delivered its highest adult 18-49 rating in the local people meters in two years.

· The Jan. 16 telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host Adam Driver and musical guest Chris Stapleton, averaged a 3.0 rating, 15 share in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with Local People Meters from 12:15-1:45 a.m. ET, according to Nielsen Media Research (an adjusted average in household rating in the 56 markets metered by Nielsen is currently unavailable due to technical issues). Note that last night's "SNL" was delayed about 45 minutes by the overrun of NBC's primetime NFL Playoff telecast.

· "Saturday Night Live" delivered the show's highest results in the Local People Meters since Jan. 4, 2014 (3.0/12 for "SNL Best of This Season," also following an NFL overrun) and equals the show's high since the Dec. 21, 2013 edition (3.9/18 with host Jimmy Fallon and musical guest Justin Timberlake).

· In household rating, "Saturday Night Live" is estimated to be generating about a mid-5 rating, though the exact figure is currently unavailable due to technical issues. A mid-5 would be the #2 household rating of the season, behind only the Nov. 7 telecast with host Donald Trump and musical guest Sia (6.6/16). Prior to last night, "SNL's" #2 household result this season has been the 5.1/13 for the Dec. 19 edition hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler with musical guest Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

· Last night's "Saturday Night Live" was the #1 non-sports telecast of the night on the Big 4 in the metered markets, far ahead of all primetime entertainment programming on those networks.

· Note that "SNL" adds significant viewership via time-shifting, with originals growing by +52% going from L+SD to L+7 in adults 18-49 (1.84 to 2.79) and +2.252 million persons in total viewers (6.236 million to 8.488 million).

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" results from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.
