DISCOVERY CHANNEL'S FIRST-EVER TRUE CRIME SERIES "KILLING FIELDS" DEBUTS AS NETWORK'S MOST-WATCHED TUESDAY NEW SERIES SINCE "ALASKAN BUSH PEOPLE"
Discovery's first true-crime series KILLING FIELDS had a strong debut. The series premiere opened with a .81 P25-54 rating with 1.70M Total Viewers P2+ on Tuesday, January 5, in L+3, making it the most-watched Tuesday series debut since ALASKAN BUSH PEOPLE. This was also Discovery's highest-rated Tuesday series debut in W25-54 and W18-49 since the MOONSHINERS spinoff TICKLE.
KILLING FIELDS also drove Discovery as the #1 unscripted non-sports cable net in the 10 PM hour across P/M18-49 & M18-34. Co-executive produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Tom Fontana and Academy Award-winning film director Barry Levinson, the series follows homicide detectives as they reopen the case of a young woman found in the Louisiana swamplands, a body dumpsite, where the forces of nature often erase evidence of a crime.
The second episode of KILLING FIELDS airs Tuesday, January 12 at 10 PM on Discovery, and follows the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office detectives as they use the latest cutting-edge technology to comb for evidence at the victim's crime scene.
Also airing Tuesday night was MOONSHINERS at 9 PM, which delivered a 1.40 P25-54 rating with 2.34 million Total Viewers P2+ in L+3. The series also pulled in a significant number of women viewers. Season highs were reached across W25-54 and W18-49 - the highest female viewer skew since the season 5 opener.
