UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Dec. 4, 2015 - Generating 1.6 million tweets and 129 million impressions, "The Wiz Live!" was the most social live special program since Nielsen Social began tracking Twitter TV activity in October 2011 (excluding sports, award shows and political events).

With 279K unique authors, "The Wiz Live!" is NBC's second-highest ranking, trailing only "SNL's 40th Anniversary" special from earlier this year. "The Wiz Live!" trended throughout the day on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

NBC engaged with fans and social influencers with targeted social media platform activations on Facebook and Twitter. On Facebook, a "check-in" feature with a custom Yellow Brick Road icon was created when updating your status to "watching The Wiz Live." A Twitter Moment, with support from @TwitterMusic and @TwitterTV, featured highlights and conversations surrounding "The Wiz Live!" and #TheWiz.

At an average of 5.9 tweets per unique author, the special drew a very vocal user base, which enjoyed sharing and posting countless memes, Vines, and GIFs, as evidenced by the list of most-retweeted posts.
