NASHVILLE - June 16, 2015 - The 2015 "CMT Music Awards" once again earned its title as the loudest in country music garnering nearly 17 million cumulative viewers* for the live June 10th premiere and subsequent airings, according to Nielsen, on par with last year's record-breaking awards and up nearly 10 percent from 2013.
#CMTawards trended worldwide on Twitter from the start of the live telecast and throughout, and the show ranked as the #1 most social telecast of the day with over 18 million impressions according to Nielsen Twitter TV ratings. The awards ranked as the #2 most social non-sports telecast of the week behind only "Game of Thrones." Additionally, CMT.com saw double-digit gains for "CMT Music Awards" content, with unique visitors up +33% from the prior year.
Expertly guided by hosts Erin Andrews and Brittany Snow, CMT's most buzzed about show was an historic night as Carrie Underwood dominated with three wins and a new record for overall wins with a grand total of 13 awards, more than any other artist since the show's inception. The evening included smash performances by country's biggest stars including Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum with Zedd, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Reba and Zac Brown Band.
In another "CMT Music Awards" first, the network partnered with Meerkat to deliver a front row stream of Florida Georgia Line's "Anything Goes" performance. The performance was one of the most talked-about moments of the night, and the first time a brand has partnered with the live-streaming app to broadcast from a live TV taping.
The 14th annual telecast was available on more platforms than any time in CMT history with streams across all of the network's digital and social platforms, a simulcast on fellow Viacom networks TV Land and TeenNick, as well as the first-ever radio simulcast across 120 iHeartMedia country music stations reaching 17.3 million listeners across the nation.
