VIEWERS CONTINUE TO BOOK SATURDAY NIGHTS WITH HALLMARK CHANNEL
LATEST ORIGINAL MOVIE PREMIERE, LOVE BY THE BOOK, MAKES NETWORK HIGHEST-RATED ON CABLE IN PRIMETIME AMONG HOUSEHOLDS
Film Averages a 2.0 HH Rating and 2 Million Total Viewers
Hallmark Channel chalked up another strong Saturday night with the January 24 premiere of Love by the Book garnering a 2.0 HH rating and reaching 2 million total viewers. Elevating Hallmark Channel to be the highest-rated cable net in primetime among households, the film also marked cable's top movie of the day and week. Additionally, in its 9-11pm time period, Love by the Book was the 2nd highest-rated and 2nd most-watched program among total viewers.
"The response we have seen around Hallmark Channel's original programming in the New Year has been phenomenal, underscoring the network's enduring appeal for viewers of all ages," said Michelle Vicary, executive vice president, programming & network publicity. "These results bode extremely well for the January 31st kick-off of our next big programming event, Countdown to Valentine's Day -- part of our mission to celebrate special holidays and occasions all year long -- and we look forward to delivering more of the heartwarming, romantic stories that our audience has come to know and love."
In Love by the Book, after a childhood filled with reading fairytales, bookstore owner Emma believes in handsome princes and happily ever afters. Unlike her happily married coworker Marilyn, Emma has yet to be swept away by her own prince charming. Trying to both find an idyllic love life and impress her store's investor, Frank, Emma balances time dating romantic suitor Landon and time at her store with Frank's nettlesome son, Eric. Although Landon demonstrates real knight and shining armor potential with his romantic overtures, he doesn't understand her priorities or support her passions like Eric does. As Emma weighs fairytale courtship against genuine commitment, she learns that real love has more layers than storybook romances.
