DISNEY CHANNEL PREMIERE OF PRIMETIME SPECIAL "SOFIA THE FIRST: THE CURSE OF PRINCESS IVY" DELIVERS 4.7 MILLION TOTAL VIEWERS, REIGNING AS TV'S #1 EVENING TELECAST OF THE YEAR AMONG KIDS 2-5 AND GIRLS 2-5
Disney Channel's premiere of the special "Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy," (Sunday, November 23, 7:00 p.m.) -- featuring a special appearance by Rapunzel voiced by Mandy Moore -- delivered royal ratings with 4.7 million Total Viewers, the series' #2 telecast of all time and the #1 evening preschool telecast year to date. It was the #1 evening telecast across all TV among Kids 2-5 (1.4 million/9.2 rating) and Girls 2-5 (1.1 million/13.8 rating) and the #1 evening preschool telecast among Kids 2-11 (2.7 million/6.9 rating), Adults 18-49 (1.5 million/1.2 rating) and Women 18-49 (950,000/1.5 rating).
The high-stakes adventure also guest starred feature film, television and Broadway actress Anna Camp as Princess Ivy, along with her "Pitch Perfect" co-star John Michael Higgins as the self-appointed leader of an all-dragon a capella group, and Oliver Platt ("The West Wing") as Enchancia's oldest-living dragon, Everburn.
2014 to-date, "Sofia the First" is TV's #1 series in Girls 2-5, accounting for the Top 11 telecasts and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49. Its animated TV movie prequel, "Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess," continues to be the #1 cable TV telecast of all time in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and the #1 preschool cable TV telecast ever in Total Viewers and Women 18-49. Overall, the franchise holds the top 2 telecasts in cable TV history for Kids 2-5.
The series was developed by Craig Gerber, who also serves as executive producer and story editor. Jamie Mitchell is executive producer and director. John Kavanaugh serves as songwriter/music director, and Kevin Kliesch is the composer. "Sofia the First" is a production of Disney Television Animation.
