TNT has extended it summer victory by ranking as basic cable's #1 network in primetime for Q3 2014 among total viewers.
TNT's summer hits Rizzoli & Isles, Major Crimes and The Last Ship ranked as basic cable's Top 3 original series of Q3 2014. They also accounted for 25 of basic cable's Top 35 telecasts for the quarter among total viewers, plus 17 of basic cable's Top 45 telecasts with adults 25-54.
Closing out the quarter, last week's two-hour season finale of Dallas has garnered 2.4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, with 1.1 million adults 25-54. Wednesday's episode of Legends has brought in 2.4 million viewers in Live + 3, including 1.0 million adults 25-54. And Wednesday's episode of Franklin & Bash has drawn 2.0 million viewers in Live + 3, with 869,000 adults 25-54.
Adult Swim
Across September 2014, Adult Swim ranked #1 among basic cable networks for Total Day Delivery of adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24 & 18-34.
On Sunday nights, Adult Swim's newest original animated seriesMr. Pickles (11:30 p.m.) premiered in September as an immediate hit, ranking #1 in its time period among all targeted adults/men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49. The comedy series earned gains among adults 18-34 (up 10%) & 18-49 (up 1%), and men 18-34 (up 7%) & 18-49 (up 8%) compared to the same time period last year. Longstanding hit series Squidbillies (11:45 p.m.) also ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-34 & 18-49 and all targeted men, with new episode premieres increasing delivery of adults 18-34 by 8% and men 18-49 by 2%. Lastly, Bob's Burgers (9:30 p.m.) grew average delivery among adults/men 18-34 & 18-49 between 6% and 25% vs. last year's time period.
On Thursday nights throughout September, original comedy seriesTim & Eric's Bedtime Stories (12:15 a.m.) grew average delivery of men 18-24 by 4% vs. the same time period last year, while original series Black Jesus (11 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24.
On Saturday nights, Anime series Hellsing Ultimate (3 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-34 and men 18-24/18-34. Most of the TOONAMI new episode premieres earned delivery gains among all targeted men vs. the same time period last year.
Overall in September, Adult Swim programming accounted for 22 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the month among adults 18-34, and 14 of the top 50 with men 18-34, both more than any other network.
TBS
TBS has topped September as basic cable's #1 entertainment network in primetimedelivery of adults 18-49 for the month. TBS also won the demo for the final week of the month, its fifth consecutive week in the top spot among basic cable's entertainment networks.
The Big Bang Theory on TBS continued its dominance in Q3, ranking as basic cable's #1 comedy for the quarter among total viewers and adults 18-49.
Cartoon Network
Across September 2014, Cartoon Network ranked as television's #1 network for Early Prime (6p-8p) delivery of kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and all boy demos. Additionally, the network ranked #1 for Total Day delivery of boys 6-11 & 9-14. Growth within Total Day delivery vs. September 2013 scored increases among kids 2-11 by 11%, kids 6-11 by 15%, and kids 9-14 by 3%. Early Prime delivery also expanded among kids 2-11 by 3% and among kids 6-11 by 2%.
Successfully targeting all boy demos, Cartoon Network claimed 49 out of basic cable's top 50 telecasts in September among boys 6-11.
A powerhouse on Thursday nights, Cartoon Network ranked #1 vs. all TV among kids/boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 from 6-8 p.m., increasing average delivery by double-digits across the board, ranging from 31% to 63%. Original animated series Uncle Grandpa (7:30 p.m.) charted as September's #1 program on Thursdays among boys 6-11 on all TV and boys 2-11 & 9-14 on basic cable. Additional original series Teen Titans Go! (6 p.m), Steven Universe (6:30 p.m.) and The Amazing World of Gumball (7 p.m.) each ranked #1 in their time periods among all targeted kids & boy demos. All Thursday night new episode premieres grew average delivery by mostly double-digits across the board (4% to 83%).
On additional nights of the week (6-8 p.m.), Cartoon Network was the #1 destination vs. all TV among kids 2-11 & 6-11 and all targeted boys on Wednesday Nights; #1 among all targeted boys on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday Nights; and #1 among boys 6-11 on Sunday Night. Wednesday night also earned delivery increases among all key kids and boys 2-11/6-11 vs. the same time period last year.
Saturday Morning programming (7-11 a.m.) achieved year-over-year gains among all kids 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 and boys 2-11 & 6-11. Legends of Chima (7:30 a.m.) and Pokémon the Series XY(8 a.m.) both ranked #1 in their respective timeslots among boys 6-11 & 9-14.
NBA TV
Driven by the FIBA World Cup, Summer League and the network's most-viewed WNBA Playoffs coverage of all time, NBA TV recorded its most-watched third quarter ever. The network delivered double-digit audience growth across nearly all demos, with primetime viewership growing by +25% and total day viewership seeing a +21% annual increase. In September 2014, NBA TV generated a +36% increase among both total viewers and household impressions, along with a +33% improvement among men 18-34, over the comparable month last year.
