Friday's Broadcast Ratings: Return of "Shark Tank" Tops Demos for ABC

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/26/14):

ABC (6.903 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) was the demo champ on Friday thanks to the return of "Shark Tank" (6.884 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T2), a second hour of "Shark Tank" (7.387 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "20/20" (6.439 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T2).

CBS (8.363 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2) then was the most-watched network with the respective premieres of "The Amazing Race" (5.519 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.930 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5) and "Blue Bloods" (10.639 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6).

Next up was NBC (6.166 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2) with a rebroadcast of "The Mysteries of Laura" (4.768 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8) and a new two-hour "Dateline NBC" (6.865 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.178 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) served up a new "Utopia" (1.859 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8) and an "Gotham" (2.497 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8) encore.

And finally, a new "Masters of Illusion" (1.102 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11) led into repeats of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.902 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11) and "America's Next Top Model" (0.594 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #13) on The CW (0.798 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.2, 0.2 and 0.2 rating, respectively.

·In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/3 with an encore.

·From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

·From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/5 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

·At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (9/27/13):

CBS (9.631 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the network to beat on a competitive Friday with the season premieres of "Undercover Boss" (8.125 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.381 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4) and "Blue Bloods" (11.387 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2).

ABC (5.422 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then was a close second with week two of "Last Man Standing" (5.663 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #8), "The Neighbors" (4.113 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) and "Shark Tank" (6.749 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) plus a new "20/20" (4.628 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6).

Next up was FOX (3.499 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with the debut of "MasterChef Junior" (4.224 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) followed by a rebroadcast of "Sleepy Hollow" (2.774 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.686 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up repeats of "The Michael J. Fox Show" (4.044 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11), a second "The Michael J. Fox Show" (3.969 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) followed by a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (6.526 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6).

And finally, the season finale of "Perfect Score" (0.811 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) lead into a repeat of "Perfect Score" (0.611 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and a new "America's Next Top Model" (0.992 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13) on The CW (0.852 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).
