Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: "MLB All-Star Game" Pushes FOX in Front

Here are the highlights of the 10 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (7/15/14):

FOX (10.950 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1) was of course the network to beat on Tuesday with its annual presentation of the "MLB All-Star Game" (10.950 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1).

NBC (7.716 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then snagged the silver with "America's Got Talent" (8.466 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) followed by the season finale of "The Night Shift" (6.215 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3).

Next up was CBS (6.397 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) and its repeat lineup of "NCIS" (7.846 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (6.170 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and "Person of Interest" (5.177 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.502 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) served up its duo of "Extreme Weight Loss" (3.560 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and "Celebrity Wife Swap" (3.385 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4).

And finally, repeats of "Arrow" (0.550 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.1, #10) and "Supernatural" (0.533 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.2, #9) closed out the evening over on The CW (0.541 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #4). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Arrow" delivered a 0.1 rating while "Supernatural" posted a 0.1 rating.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.7/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.8/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/16/13):

FOX (10.283 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1) pulled in front on Tuesday with its coverage of the "MLB All-Star Game" (10.258 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1). Leading into the telecast was a half-hour "MLB All-Star Game Pre-Game" (10.356 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.8, #2). Said numbers were on par with last year's event (9.99 million viewers; adults 18-49: 2.9 on 7/10/12).

NBC (7.896 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) then had to settle for second place with a rebroadcast of "Hollywood Game Night" (4.032 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) followed by a new two-hour "America's Got Talent" (9.828 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.5, #3).

Next up was CBS (6.526 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and its encore lineup of "NCIS" (8.625 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (6.071 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9) and "Person of Interest" (4.882 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.291 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) offered up an original "Extreme Weight Loss" (3.450 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and a repeat "Body of Proof" (2.973 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11).

And finally, The CW (1.898 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) got a boost from the premiere of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (2.860 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5), a second "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (2.948 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) plus the debut of "Perfect Score" (0.982 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #12) and a second "Perfect Score" (0.801 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #13).

In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Line" delivered a 1.1 and a 1.2 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Score" a 0.5 and 0.4 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

·From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

·At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
