Fallon's 18-49 Demo Matches Combined Rating of Letterman, Kimmel; 'Tonight Show' Also Registers Huge Increases on YouTube
NEW YORK - May 8, 2014 - "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" has delivered a five-week high and a week-to-week gain of +17% in adult 18-49 ratings results for the week of April 28-May 2.
"The Tonight Show" matched the combined rating of CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for the week.
At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was up for a second consecutive week to also achieve a five-week high and a week-to-week gain of +7% in 18-49.
For the week of April 28-May 2, Fallon's 1.23 rating in 18-49 was up versus the prior week's 1.05 rating, making it the top "Tonight" rating since the 1.33 for the week of March 24-28. Versus a 0.82 for the same week last year, "Tonight" is up +50% in 18-49.
In fact, Fallon's 1.23 equaled the combined ratings of "Letterman" (0.55) and "Kimmel" (0.68). In total viewers, Fallon's 3.787 million is up versus the prior week's 3.358 million by +13%, to top Letterman (2.838 million) by +33% and Kimmel (3.358 million vs. 2.487 million) by +36%. Note: Kimmel was in rebroadcast on Friday.
Also of note: "The Tonight Show" is a huge hit on YouTube. Since its launch on Feb. 17, "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" is the #1 television show on YouTube in terms of subscribers gained (1.149 million), views gained (338.3 million) and number of videos with more than 1 million views (40), based on data collected on SocialBlade and YouTube.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, the 0.61 rating for "Late Night with Seth Meyers" is up +7% versus the previous week's 0.57 and up +9% versus a 0.56 for his prior week of originals (April 7-11). Versus a 0.47 for "Late Night" during the year-ago week, last week's 0.61 was up +30%.
Meyers outrated Letterman in 18-49 (0.61 vs. 0.55), despite starting an hour later. Meyers ranked #1 in every key ratings measure head to head versus ABC's "Nightline" from 12:35-1:05 a.m. and versus CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" from 12:35-1:35 a.m. The "Late Night" margins of victory in 18-49 rating were +56% versus "Nightline" from 12:35-1:05 (0.67 vs. 0.43) and +69% versus "Late Late Show" from 12:35-1:35 (0.61 vs. 0.36).
At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" (0.35/3 in adults 18-49) jumped +30% versus the same week last year (0.27/2).
