With "The Bachelor" and a repeat "Castle," ABC took second on Monday to CBS' all-original line-up in Total Viewers (8.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.1/6). For the 3rd straight week, the Net ranked No. 1 on Monday with Adults 18-34 and key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).
"The Bachelor" (8:00-10:01 p.m. - 8.6 million and 2.5/7 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-10:01 p.m., ABC's "The Bachelor" once again paced well ahead of its unscripted competition, beating NBC's back-to-back episodes of "Hollywood Game Night" by 3.6 million viewers (8.6 million vs. 5.0 million) and by 79% in Adults 18-49 (2.5/7 vs. 1.4/4). Building from its first to second hour, "The Bachelor" won the 9 o'clock hour in Adults 18-49 (2.7/7), outdelivering CBS' comedies by 8% (2.5/6 - "Mike & Molly"/"Mom") and Fox's slot premiere of "The Following" by 35% (2.0/5).
· For the 3rd consecutive week, the ABC unscripted series led its 2-hour slot in Adults 18-34 and was Monday's No. 1 TV show in key Women (W18-34/W18-49). Growing week to week in Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+9%), "The Bachelor" earned best-since-premiere numbers - since 1/6/14.
Tuesday
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - R" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 3.8 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):
In the 8:00 p.m. hour, ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." was up over the prior week by 6% in Total Viewers and by 11% in Adults 18-49 to score its 2nd-best repeat numbers yet.
Wednesday
"The Middle-R" (8:00-8:30 p.m. - 5.8 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., "The Middle" scored its best repeat numbers in nearly 11 months in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 - since 3/6/13. The ABC comedy was up over its year-ago repeat telecast by 5% in Total Viewers and by 15% in Adults 18-49 (5.5 million and a 1.3/4 on 1/30/13).
"Suburgatory" (8:30-9:00 p.m. - 5.1 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):
At 8:30 p.m., ABC's "Suburgatory" held 100% of its Adult 18-49 lead-in and built by 20% in Adults 18-34. In fact, "Suburgatory" was up for the 2nd week in a row with Adults 18-34 (+9% - 1.2/4 vs. 1.1/4) to deliver a season-high.
"Modern Family-R" (9:00-9:31 p.m. - 6.0 million and 1.8/5 in AD18-49):
Surging over its lead-in at 9:00 p.m., ABC's "Modern Family" matched its highest repeat Adult 18-49 number since October - since 10/30/13.
"Nashville" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 5.3 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):
Building on its lead-in at 10:00 p.m., "Nashville" was up week to week by 6% in Total Viewers and by 7% in Adults 18-49. Growing for its 2nd-straight telecast in Adults 18-49, the ABC drama scored its highest rating since the beginning of December - since 12/4/13. On average, "Nashville" is ABC's biggest percentage gainer in TV playback this season (Top 5 on all of broadcast), shooting up 75% in Adults 18-49 (+1.2 rating points) from L+SD to L+7.
Thursday
"The Taste" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 3.6 million and 1.1/3 in AD18-49):
Opposite big competition from original telecasts of CBS' comedies from 8:00-10:00 p.m. ("The Big Bang Theory"/"The Millers"/"The Crazy Ones"/"Two and a Half Men"), ABC's "The Taste" held 100% of its week-ago Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 ratings, matching its 2nd-best number this season on the latter measure.
Friday
Once again matching a season high on the night (tying its top-rated Friday since 11/9/12), ABC won Friday among Adults 18-49 for the 4th week in a row (1.7/6). In fact, over the last month, ABC has delivered the 4 highest-rated non-sports Friday nights for any net this season in Adults 18-49.
· ABC's "Shark Tank" (2.1/7) ranked as the No. 1 TV program of the night for the 4th consecutive week in Adults 18-49.
"Last Man Standing" (8:00-8:31 p.m. - 6.9 million and 1.5/5 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "Last Man Standing" was up 7% in Adults 18-49 to match a season high.
"The Neighbors" (8:31-9:00 p.m. - 4.3 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49):
At 8:30 p.m., "The Neighbors" surged 38% week to week in Adults 18-49 to tie its highest rating since its season premiere - since 9/20/13.
"Shark Tank" (9:00-10:01 p.m. - 7.4 million and 2.1/7 in AD18-49):
Spiking 91% over its lead-in at 9:00 p.m. in Adults 18-49, ABC's "Shark Tank" won the hour by 17% over its nearest competition (2.1/7 vs. 1.8/6 - CBS' "Hawaii Five-0"). The show built 11% over its year-ago telecast in Adults 18-49 (1.9/6 on 2/1/13). Season to date, "Shark Tank" is up 15% in Adults 18-49 over the same point last year, trending as the series' best-ever season.
"20/20" (10:01-11:00 p.m. - 5.5 million and 1.7/5 in AD18-49):
ABC's "20/20" won the 10 o'clock hour for the 4th straight week in Adults 18-49 (1.7/5), beating CBS' "Blue Bloods" by 6% (1.6/5) and the final hour of NBC's 2-hour "Dateline" by 32% (1.3/4). Coming off last week's season high, "20/20" turned around and tied its 2nd-highest rating this season in Adults 18-49. On "20/20," ABC anchors Diane Sawyer and David Muir explored the issue of kids and guns in interviews across America with parents who expose their young children to guns to demystify them, and parents who believe a gun is only secure from kids when it is in a safe.
· ABC's "20/20" once again stood as the top-rated newsmagazine of the night, outdelivering NBC's 2-hour "Dateline" (9:00-11:00 p.m.) by double-digits in Adults 18-49 (+42% - 1.7/5 vs. 1.2/4) and Adults 25-54 (+24% - 2.1/6 vs. 1.7/5). In fact, "20/20" stood as the week's No. 1 newsmagazine on both counts.
· Growing for the 2nd year in a row, "20/20" is up 23% in Total Viewers season to date and on track to post its most-watched season in 4 years - since the 2009-10 season.
Saturday
"20/20-Saturday" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.0 million and 0.8/2 in AD18-49):
ABC's "20/20-Saturday" was up week to week by 33% in Adults 18-49. Anchored by ABC News' Elizabeth Vargas, "20/20-Saturday" featured an exclusive interview with Amanda Knox, following her re-conviction of the 2007 murder of roommate Meredith Kercher in Italy.
Sunday
With back-to-back encores of "America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-9:00 p.m.) and "Shark Tank" (9:00-11:00 p.m.) opposite Fox's Super Bowl coverage, ABC (0.7/1) beat out NBC by 40% (0.5/1) and CBS by 40% (0.5/1) in Adults 18-49.
· ABC was up over its year-ago performance on Super Bowl Sunday (on 02/03/13) by 35% in Total Viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.0 million) and by 40% in Adults 18-49 (0.7/1 vs. 0.5/1).
"Shark Tank-R" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.7 million and 1.1/3 in AD18-49):
During the final hour of the night, "Shark Tank" built on its Adult 18-49 lead-in by 83% at 10:00 p.m. to rank as Sunday's top-rated non-sports broadcast with a 10% advantage over runner-up CBS' "NCIS" (1.1/3 vs. 1.0/2 from 10:00-11:00 p.m.).
· Despite the competition, "Shark Tank" more than doubled the time period week to week (+120%) to deliver a 5-week high among Adults 18-49 - since 12/29/13.
