UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Jan. 28, 2014 -For the week of Jan. 20-26, NBC averaged a 1.7 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 6.0 million viewers overall, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. Versus the same week last year, NBC finished with its 18-49 rating for the same week last year and was up 10% in total viewers (6.0 million vs. 5.4 million).

NBC's top-rated shows of the week in 18-49 included: Sunday's "2014 NFL Pro Bowl" (#3 among primetime programs on the Big 4 nets), Monday's "The Blacklist" (tied for #11), Tuesday's "The Biggest Loser" (tied for #21) and Tuesday's "Chicago Fire" and Wednesday's "Law & Order: SVU" (tied for #28, rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows).

NBC leads the season by 0.3 of a rating point in 18-49 (with a 2.9 rating vs. second-place CBS's 2.6), the biggest margin for any network 18 weeks into the season in three years (since CBS led by 0.3 of a point in 2010-11). NBC's 2.9 matches the net's top rating at this point in the season in six years (since a 3.2 in 2007-08).

Through 18 weeks of the season, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and is also #1 in adults 18-34, adults 25-54 (tie) and other key demos.

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the season with an average of 9.2 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 18 weeks into the season in seven years (since 2006-07, 9.9 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up 11% season to date in total viewers (9.2 million vs. 8.3 million).

Primetime averages for the week of Jan. 20-26 in adults 18-49 are: CBS, 2.7/7; Fox, 2.0/6; NBC, 1.7/5; ABC, 1.4/4; and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 11.3 million; Fox, 6.1 million; NBC, 6.0 million; ABC, 5.4 million; and CW, 1.7 million.

Season-to-date averages are: NBC, 2.9/8; CBS, 2.6/8; Fox, 2.5/7; ABC, 2.1/6; and CW, 0.8/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.4 million; NBC, 9.2 million; ABC, 7.6 million; Fox, 7.4 million; and CW, 1.9 million.

NBC highlights for the week of Jan. 20-26:

Monday: The regular season premiere of "Hollywood Game Night" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) jumped 30% in 18-49 and 36% or 1.3 million persons in total viewers versus a Christmas special that ran from 10-11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23 (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall). The 8 p.m. "Hollywood Game Night" finished within a tenth of a point of the show's July 11, 2013 series premiere in 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.4) to tie the #2 "HGN" rating heading into this season. In total viewers, the 8 p.m. "Hollywood Game Night" topped last July's series premiere (4.3 million) by 10% to set a new series record in total viewers.

A second edition of "Hollywood Game Night" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) built on its lead-in by 15% in 18-49 rating to set a new series record in that key demographic. The 8 p.m. "HGN" grew from half-hour to half-hour in every key measure and the 9 p.m. telecast grew or held steady in every key category.

"The Blacklist" (2.3/6 in adults 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) finished #1 the hour in adults 18-49, more than doubling week two of CBS's "Intelligence" (1.1/3) and topping ABC's "Castle" (2.0/6) by a 15% margin. The Jan. 20 "Blacklist" was up 53% in 18-49 versus NBC's January 2013 average in the time period, also without a "Voice" lead-in (2.3 vs. 1.5), and was up 106% or 4.5 million persons in total viewers (8.8 million vs. 4.3 million).

L+3 Time-Shifting: The Jan. 20 "Blacklist" set a new all-time record for biggest "live plus three-day" increase on U.S. broadcast or cable television, growing by 5.430 million viewers versus the show's next-day "live plus same day" result (to 14.262 million vs. 8.832 million). On a percentage basis, it was an increase of 61%, the show's biggest percentage increase in total viewers to date. "The Blacklist" has now delivered the seven biggest total-viewer increases of all time going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" results. The gain of 5.430 million for the Jan. 20 episode narrowly beats the prior record of 5.426 million for the Nov. 4 telecast. In adults 18-49, the Jan. 20 "Blacklist" jumped 1.60 rating points, from a 2.30 to a 3.90. That's a 70% increase, the biggest percentage gain yet for "Blacklist" in 18-49.

L+7 Time-Shifting: Fourth-quarter originals of "The Blacklist" added 2.1 rating points or 68% on average to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen issued "live plus seven day" results (to a 5.2 from a 3.1) and grew by 6.1 million viewers overall (17.2 million persons vs. 11.1 million).

Tuesday: NBC ranked #1 Tuesday night in adults 18-49, with time-period wins among those the Big 4 networks for "The Biggest Loser" from 8-10 p.m. ET and "Chicago Fire" at 10.

"The Biggest Loser" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 6.7 viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) jumped 12% week to week in 18-49 (to a 1.9 from a 1.7) and by 21% or more than a million persons in total viewers (6.7 million vs. 5.6 million), for its top results in both measures since Dec. 17. "The Biggest Loser" ranked #1 in the time period in adults 18-49 and other key demographics among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. "The Biggest Loser" tied three other shows for the #1 rating of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 (1.9 each).

"Chicago Fire" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the 10 p.m. hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and every other key demographic. "Chicago Fire" matched the prior week's 18-49 rating and was up 5% in total viewers (7.131 million vs. 6.765 million) to its top result since Dec. 10. L+3 Time-Shifting: "Chicago Fire" added 60% or 0.93 of a point its next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (to a 2.77 in L+3 from a 1.84 in L+SD) and 2.678 million viewers overall (9.809 million vs. 7.131 million).

Wednesday: "Revolution" (1.5/4 in adults 18-49 and 5.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) matched its highest 18-49 rating since Oct. 2, during the season's second week (1.6). This week's "Revolution" grew week to week by 15% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5 rating vs. a 1.3) and 10% in total viewers (5.280 million vs. 4.780 million).

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.8/5 in adults 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) jumped week to week by 29% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.8 rating from a 1.4) and by 23% or more than 1.2 million persons in total viewers (6.7 million vs. 5.4 million). "SVU" held steady or grew in every key measure from half-hour to half-hour, including gains of 6% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.9 rating from a 1.8), 14% in adults 25-54 (2.4 vs. 2.1) and 12% in total viewers (7.0 million vs. 6.3 million).

"Chicago P.D." (1.6/5 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in the 10 p.m. hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49and ranked #1 outright among those nets in men 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. "Chicago P.D." grew 7% week to week in adults 18-49 (with a 1.6 rating vs. a 1.5) and was up 13% in total viewers (6.2 million vs. 5.5 million). With its week-to-week gain of a tenth of a rating point or 7% during its third week on the schedule, "Chicago P.D." becomes the first new drama on the Big 4 nets this season to grow week to week in adults 18-49 during its first three weeks on the air. In its first three weeks on the schedule, "Chicago P.D." has now generated NBC's three best 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period, excluding "Saturday Night Live" specials, since Sept. 25, 2013.

L+3 Time Shifting: Last week's editions of NBC's Wednesday dramas were all significantly time-shifted: "Revolution" grew by 47% in 18-49 going from these next-day "live plus same day" ratings to "live plus three day" (to a 2.21 from a 1.50), "SVU" grew by 44% (2.66 vs. 1.85) and "Chicago P.D." increased by 51% (2.45 vs. 1.62).

Thursday: "Community" (1.1/3 in adults 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall from 8-8:30 p.m. ET) matched the prior week week's 18-49 rating and finished within 15% of the show's season premiere three weeks earlier (1.1 vs. 1.3 on Jan. 2), a significant improvement versus last season, when the fourth "Community" had declined by 37% versus the season premiere (1.2 vs. a 1.9). L+3 Time-Shifting: The previous week's "Community" added 34% or 0.37 of a point to its next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating in "live plus three day" results (to a 1.45 in L+3 from a 1.08 L+SD).

"Parks and Recreation" (1.2/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall from 8:30-9:01 p.m. ET) built on its "Community" lead-in by 9% in adults 18-49. In the time period, "Parks" tied for #2 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-34 and #2 outright among those nets in men 18-34. L+3 Time-Shifting: The prior week's "Parks and Recreation" grew by 42% or 0.51 of a point going from its next-day L+SD 18-49 rating to its L+3 result (to a 1.73 in L+3 from a 1.22 in L+SD).

"The Michael J. Fox Show" earned a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers overall from 9:01-9:31 p.m. ET, growing a tenth of a point or 17% versus last week's 9:30 telecast (0.7 vs. 0.6). In total viewers, "MJF" grew week to week by 10% (2.2 million vs. 2.0 million). L+3 Time-Shifting: The previous week's "Michael J. Fox" added 39% or 0.23 of a point to its next-day L+SD 18-49 rating in L+3 results (to a 0.82 in L+3 from a 0.59 in L+SD)..

"Sean Saves the World" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall from 9:31-10 p.m., retaining 100% of its 18-49 lead-in from "MJF" and building by 18% in total viewers. L+3 Time-Shifting: The prior week's "Sean Saves the World" grew by 25% or 0.21 of a point versus its next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (to a 1.04 in L+3 from a 0.83 in L+SD).

"Parenthood" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m.) finished #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in the 10 p.m. hour in adults 18-49, as well as women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. "Parenthood" grew 8% week to week (1.3 vs. 1.2), to equal its highest 18-49 rating since Oct. 3 (1.5), during the second week of the season. In total viewers, "Parenthood" grew 7% week to week (4.3 million vs. 4.0 million) to generate its biggest total viewership since premiere week. L+3 Time-Shifting: The previous week's "Parenthood" added 73% or 0.90 of a point to its next-day L+SD 18-49 rating in L+3 results (to a 2.14 in L+3 from a 1.24 in L+SD).

Friday: "Dateline NBC" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) ranked #2 in the hour in adults 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers, with half-hour to half-hour gains in all key measures, including increases of 15% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5 rating from a 1.3) and 11% in adults 25-54 (2.1 vs. 1.9). Versus the same night last year, "Dateline" was up 17% in adults 18-49 (with a 1.4 rating vs. a 1.2 from 9-11 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2013), up 25% in adults 25-54 (2.0 vs. 1.6) and up 32% in total viewers (7.3 million vs. 5.5 million).

"Grimm" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall at 9 p.m. ET) matched its highest 18-49 rating since Dec. 6 (1.6) and delivered its biggest overall audience since that same date (6.3 million). L+3 Time-Shifting: Note that "Grimm" is a heavily time-shifted series, with the previous week's telecast increasing by 63% going from these next-day L+SD ratings to L+3 (from a 1.53 to a 2.49).

The "Dracula" season finale (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall at 10 p.m. ET) earned the show's highest 18-49 rating since Dec. 6 (1.1) and second-highest since the show's second episode on Nov. 1 (1.3). In total viewers, it was a high since Dec. 6 (3.8 million). In adults 18-49, "Dracula" was up 11% versus one week earlier (1.0 vs. 0.9) and up 43% versus two weeks ago (1.0 vs. 0.7). L+3 Time-Shifting: The previous week's "Dracula" grew by 71% going from these next-day L+SD ratings to L+3 (from a 0.93 to a 1.59).

Saturday: A rebroadcast of "Saturday Night Live" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET), with host and musical guest Drake, delivered the second-best 18-49 rating among 13 "SNL" encores in the time slot so far this season, trailing only the 1.0/4 scored on Dec. 21 with an episode hosted by Paul Rudd and featuring musical guest One Direction. From its first half-hour to its second, the 10 p.m. "SNL" rebroadcast grew or held steady in every key measure, including gains of 13% in adults 18-49 (to a 0.9 rating from a 0.8), 17% in adults 18-34 (0.7 vs. 0.6) and 50% in men 18-34 (0.9 vs. 0.6).

Sunday: NBC Sports' coverage of last night's "2014 NFL Pro Bowl" (3.8/10 in 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall from 7:30-10:47 p.m. ET) led NBC to a #2 finish for the night among the Big 4 Networks in adults 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54, as well as total viewers, behind only CBS's coverage of the Grammy Awards.
