UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Jan. 7, 2014 - NBC has won the primetime ratings week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key measures, with Saturday's Saints-Eagles NFL Wild Card Playoff game ranking #1 among primetime programs on those networks in every key ratings category. According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research for the week, NBC averaged a 2.6 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 8.5 million viewers overall.

NBC has now finished #1 or tied for #1 10 weeks in a row and during 14 of 15 weeks so far this season, finishing #2 only once during a week in which Fox carried World Series coverage on four of seven nights.

Joining Saturday's Wild Card Playoff Game (#1) among the week's top 25 primetime programs on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 were Sunday's "Best of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Primetime Special" (tied for #12), Tuesday's primetime segment of "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" (tied for #14), Tuesday's NBC News Special "A Toast to 2013!" (tied for #18) and Friday's "Grimm" and "Dateline NBC" (tied for #21). Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.

Saturday's Saints-Eagles NFL Wild Card Playoff game ranked #1 among primetime shows on the Big 4 in every key category - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers - as well as kids 2-11 and teens 12-17.

Through 15 weeks of the season, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and is also #1 in every other key demo - adults, men and women 18-34; men and women 18-49; and adults, men and women 25-54.

NBC leads the season by 0.6 of a rating point (with a 3.1 vs. second-place CBS's 2.5), the biggest margin for any network 15 weeks into the season in 11 years (since NBC led by 0.6 of a point in 2002-03). NBC is the only Big 4 network so far this season to be equaling its 18-49 rating of one year ago.

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the season with an average of 9.7 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 15 weeks into the season in seven years (since 2006-07, 9.9 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up 11% season to date in total viewers (9.7 million vs. 8.8 million).

Primetime averages for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5 in adults 18-49 are: NBC, 2.6/7; Fox, 2.2/6; ABC, 1.3/4; CBS, 1.2/3; and CW, 0.4/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: NBC, 8.5 million; CBS, 6.8 million; Fox, 6.6 million; ABC, 5.1 million; and CW, 1.1 million.

Season-to-date averages are: NBC, 3.1/9; CBS, 2.5/7; Fox, 2.3/7; ABC, 2.2/7; and CW, 0.8/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.2 million; NBC, 9.7 million; ABC, 8.0 million; Fox, 6.9 million; and CW, 1.9 million.

NBC highlights for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5:

Monday: NBC tied for #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 for the night, as a 9 p.m. ET encore of "Hollywood Game Night" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) built by 10% in 18-49 on its lead-in from another "Hollywood Game Night" rebroadcast (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall at 8) to earn the highest rating to date among three "HGN" encores and one original so far this season.

Tuesday: The NBC News Special "A Toast to 2013!" (1.6/6 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) scored NBC's highest New Year's Eve 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period since 2006, when NBC ran NFL football in the slot. "A Toast to 2013!" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, tied for #1 in adults 18-34 (with a 1.5 rating) and was #1 outright among those nets in men 18-34 (1.4). From its first half-hour to its fourth, "A Toast to 2013!" grew by 46% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.9 rating from a 1.3) and by 21% or 1.2 million persons in total viewers (6.7 million vs. 5.5 million).

The primetime segment of "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) soared versus year-ago results by 64% in 18-49 rating (1.8/6 vs. 1.1/4) and 52% or nearly 2.0 million persons in total viewers (5.7 million vs. 3.8 million viewers overall) to establish record results for the 10-11 p.m. ET edition of "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" covering seven years of telecasts (2004 and 2008-13). Versus two years ago, the 10-11 p.m. portion of "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" is up 100% in 18-49 rating (1.8 vs. 0.9) and up 88% or nearly 2.7 million person in total viewers (5.7 million vs. 3.1 million).

Versus New Year's Eve 2012, NBC was up 89% in adults 18-49 (with a 1.7 rating vs. a 0.9) and up 80% or 2.7 million persons in total viewers (6.0 million vs. 3.3 million).

Wednesday: An encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m.) tied for #1 in the slot among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and was #1 outright among those networks in adults 18-34, women 18-34 and women 18-49. The "Law & Order: SVU" rebroadcast was the only encore drama on ABC, CBS or NBC in the slot to grow half-hour to half-hour in 18-49, lifting it to a lone #1 ranking in adults 18-49 from 10:30-11.

Thursday: The fifth season debut of "Community" (1.3/3 in adults 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, topping ABC's season premiere of "The Taste" (1.2/3). "Community" matched last May's season finale in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.3) and beat that season finale in total viewers by 14% (3.5 million vs. 3.1 million). Versus last season's originals average, "Community" was up 8% in 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.2) and up 22% in total viewers (3.5 million vs. 2.9 million). L+7 Time Shifting: Note that last season, "Community" added an average 42% to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen reported "live plus seven day results (to an average 1.69 rating in adults 18-49 from a 1.19).

With its first telecast in three weeks and second telecast in six weeks, "Sean Saves the World" averaged a 0.8/2 in 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET. L+7 Time-Shifting: The Dec. 12 "Sean Saves the World" grew by 35% or 0.35 of a rating point going from its L+SD rating to L+7 (1.00 to 1.35).

With its first telecast in three weeks and second in six weeks, "The Michael J. Fox Show" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 2.5 million viewers from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) retained 100% of its adult 18-49 lead-in. L+7 Time-Shifting: The Dec. 12 "Michael J. Fox Show" grew by 46% or 0.41 of a rating point going from its L+SD rating to L+7 (0.90 to 1.31).

With its first telecast in three weeks, "Parenthood" (1.3/3 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m.) scored its highest 18-49 rating since Nov. 7 and matched its highest rating since Oct. 3 during the second week of the season. In total viewers, this is the top "Parenthood" since Oct. 17. "Parenthood" tied for #1 the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-34 and ranked #2 in most other key categories, topping ABC's premiere of "The Assets" (0.7/2 in 18-49) in all key categories. L+7 Time-Shifting: The Dec. 12 "Parenthood" grew by 78% or 0.97 of a rating point going from its L+SD rating to L+7 (1.25 to 2.22).

Friday: "Dateline NBC" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) reported its highest Friday adult 18-49 rating in the past year, since also delivering a 1.5 on Jan. 4, 2013, and tied with "Grimm" and "20/20" for the #1 non-sports rating of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49. In total viewers, it was the top Friday "Dateline" in more than two and a half years (since March 25, 2011, 8.2 million). "Dateline" was the #1 Big 4 show of the night in total viewers. In adults 25-54, "Dateline" (2.2 rating) scored the top Big 4 rating of the night, excluding sports, while achieving the show's top Friday rating in 25-54 since Dec. 28, 2012.

"Grimm" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall at 9 p.m. ET) jumped 25% versus its prior original in 18-49 (1.2/4 on Dec. 13) and was up by 16% in total viewers (5.7 million vs. 4.9 million). "Grimm" tied "Dateline" and "20/20" for the highest non-sports rating of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 and ranked #1 non-sports in its time period. L+7 Time-Shifting: Note that the prior "Grimm" telecast grew by +118% going from these next-day "live plus same day" results to "live plus seven day" (to a 2.57 from a 1.18 on Dec. 13).

With its first telecast in four weeks, "Dracula" averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET, matching its 18-49 rating from three of the show's prior four telecasts. L+7 Time-Shifting: Note that the previous "Dracula" grew by +68% going from next-day "live plus same day" results to "live plus seven day" (to a 1.91 from a 1.14 on Dec. 6).

Saturday: NBC Sports' coverage of the NFL Wild Card Playoff game featuring the New Orleans Saints at the Philadelphia Eagles (11.4/32 in 18-49, 34.4 million viewers overall from 8:15-11:23 p.m. ET) scored the highest total-viewer results for a Saturday Wild Card game in NFL history, with a 14% jump over the year-ago Vikings-Packers matchup (34.4 million vs. 30.3 million). In adults 18-49, the 11.4 rating is a 9% gain over last year's 10.5. It's the fifth year in a row NBC has topped 30 million viewers with the Saturday primetime Wild Card game..

Sunday: The Sunday season debut of "Dateline NBC" (1.3/3 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall from 7-9 p.m. ET) reported the network's highest non-sports results in the time period since March 17 in 18-49 and total viewers and matched NBC's top non-sports 18-49 rating in the slot since the Golden Globes on Jan. 13, 2013. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" grew by 78% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.6 from a 0.9) and by 58% or 2.8 million persons in total viewers (7.6 million vs. 4.8 million). For its fourth half-hour from 8:30-9 p.m. ET, "Dateline" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in total viewers.

"Best of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Primetime Special" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) delivered NBC's highest non-sports / non-Golden Globes results in the time period in the past year (since Jan. 5, 2013) in both adults 18-49 and total viewers. For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Best of Late Night" beat the original ABC and CBS competition in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos, generating a 25% margin of victory in adults 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.6 for CBS's second-place "Mentalist").
