During the week of November 25, 2013, ABC aired 4 of the Top 20 non-sports broadcasts in Adults 18-49: "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." - No. 9, "DWTS SP-11/26" - No. 11, "Dancing with the Stars" - No. 15 and "Castle" - No. 19. In addition, the "Dancing with the Stars" Monday and Tuesday finales stood as the week's Top 2 most-watched entertainment series, as the ABC show outdrew NBC's "The Voice" as TV's most-watched unscripted series for the 5th consecutive week.
November Sweep (L+SD Ratings): Excluding sports to level the playing field for the NFL-boosted averages, ABC finished No. 1 in Adults 18-49 for the 2013 November Sweep (2.0 rating-tied w/CBS), beating NBC by 18% (1.7 rating) and Fox by 25% (1.6 rating).
Season to Date (Most Current Ratings): Season to date, based on non-sports programming, ABC is No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (2.6 rating-tied w/CBS), leading NBC by 4% (2.5 rating) and Fox by 18% (2.2 rating).
Monday
ABC was Monday's most-watched broadcaster for the 4th week in a row (13.6 million), topping runner-up NBC by 18% (11.3 million). ABC's "Dancing" continued to draw more viewers than NBC's "The Voice" (14.6 million vs. 11.5 million), holding a 3.1 million viewer advantage (biggest advantage this season). In addition, ABC tied for the No. 2 broadcaster on the night in Adults 18-49. ABC's "Castle" was the night's most-watched scripted TV show for the 6th time in its last 7 telecasts, topping NBC's "Blacklist" (11.4 million vs. 11.0 million).
· Up for the 2nd week in a row, ABC marked its most-watched Monday in 8 months and its best young adult number since season-premiere Monday - since 3/18/13 and 9/23/13, respectively.
"Dancing with the Stars" (8:00-10:01 p.m. - 14.6 million and 2.2/6 in AD18-49):
Building its numbers on night 1 of its 2-night season finale, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" was Monday's most-watched entertainment show for the 5th week in a row. Bill Engvall was the next celebrity dancer eliminated from the competition. Growing week to week in Total Viewers (+6%) and Adults 18-49 (+10%), "DWTS" drew its biggest audience since its season premiere and scored a 9-week high with young adults - since 9/16/13 and 9/23/13, respectively.
"Castle" (10:01-11:00 p.m. - 11.4 million and 2.1/6 in AD18-49):
During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's winter finale of "Castle" stood as the most-watched TV show, leading "Blacklist" by 4% (11.4 million vs. 11.0 million). "Castle" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 18-49 (+11%), with its biggest audience since its season opener 9 weeks ago on 9/23/13. Season to date, "Castle" is up 15% in Adults 18-49.
Tuesday
ABC finished as the dominant most-watched TV network on the final Tuesday of the November Sweep (+1.2 million over second-place CBS - 13.0 million vs. 11.8 million) and ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (2.5/7-tied w/CBS). ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" finale stood as Tuesday's most-watched TV show by 20% over runner-up CBS' "NCIS: LA" (14.8 million vs. 12.3 million from 9:00-10:00 p.m.) and "S.H.I.E.L.D." was night's No. 1 scripted series in Adults 18-49.
· The Net delivered a Tuesday season-high in Total Viewers (biggest audience in 1 year - since 11/27/12) and its best Adult 18-49 rating on the night in 9 weeks - since season-premiere Tuesday on 9/24/13.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (8:00-9:01 p.m. - 9.7 million and 2.6/8 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." spiked 41% week to week in Total Viewers to deliver its 2nd-biggest-ever audience and was up for the 2nd week in Adults 18-49 (+8%) to a 5-week high (since 10/22/13).
· In addition to ranking as the No. 1 scripted series of the night in Adults 18-49, "S.H.I.E.L.D." was also the No. 1 series in its time period with Men 18-34 for its 9th consecutive first-run airing and continued its run as Tuesday's No. 1 TV show with Men 18-49.
"Dancing with the Stars" (9:01-11:00 p.m. - 14.8 million and 2.4/7 in AD18-49):
From 9:00-11:00 p.m., the season finale of "Dancing with the Stars" made ABC the No. 1 network in the 2-hour time period with Total Viewers and key Women (W18-49/W25-54), while ranking as the top broadcaster with Kids 2-11. Dominating its final half-hour from 10:30-11:00 p.m., as Amber Riley won the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy, "Dancing" delivered 15.6 million viewers and a 2.6/8 in Adults 18-49 to lead its nearest competition (CBS' "Person of Interest" = 11.8 million and 2.1/6) by 3.8 million viewers and by 24% in young adults.
· Building over its Monday finale in Total Viewers (+1%) and Adults 18-49 (+9%), "DWTS" scored 10-week highs on both counts - best since its season premiere on 9/16/13.
· In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, the "Dancing" finale produced ABC's best time-slot numbers in 6 months with entertainment programming - since 5/21/13.
Thursday
Up against NFL-fueled competition on NBC ("Sunday Night Football") and CBS (with a primetime overrun) on Thanksgiving night, ABC's mix of repeat and original programming ("Charlie Brown Thanksgiving-R"/"Modern Family-R"/"Lady Gaga & The Muppets' Holiday Spectacular") beat out Fox's original lineup ("The X Factor"/"Glee") by 27% in Total Viewers (4.2 million vs. 3.3 million) and by 33% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 0.9/3) .
· From 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" was up over its broadcast on Thanksgiving last year by 33% in Total Viewers (5.3 million vs. 4.0 million) and by 45% in Adults 18-49 (1.6/5 vs. 1.1/4).
Friday
"Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas"/"Shrek the Halls" (5.5 million and 1.5/5 in AD18-49): From 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's rebroadcast of "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Shrek the Halls" ranked No. 1 in the hour among Adults 18-49, tripling CBS' holiday specials (+200% - 1.5/5 vs. 0.5/2 = "Hoops & Yoyo Ruin Christmas"/"Elf on a Shelf") and beating NBC's original "Dateline" by 25% (1.2/4).
· The animated Christmas specials scored season highs in the hour for ABC with Adults 18-49 and generated the Net's highest Kids 2-11 number in the slot in more than 3 years - since 10/29/10.
· "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Shrek the Halls" stood as Friday's Top 2 broadcast programs with Kids 2-11.
Sunday
"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m. - 6.7 million and 1.2/3 in AD18-49):
In the 7 o'clock hour opposite CBS' big NFL overrun, "America's Funniest Home Videos" grew its overall audience for the 2nd week in a row (+3%).
"Once Upon a Time" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 6.6 million and 1.9/5 in AD18-49):
Returning after the prior week's preemption for the "AMAs," ABC's "Once Upon a Time" surged 58% over its Adult 18-49 lead-in at 8:00 p.m. to rank as Sunday's No. 1 scripted broadcast.
· "Once Upon a Time" held steady with its 2-week ago delivery in Adults 18-49, while gaining 15% in Adults 18-34 to match a 4-week high - since 11/3/13.
· The ABC drama was once again Sunday's most social broadcast series with 66,293 tweets, up 4% from the last episode to its 2nd-highest number this season - best since its season premiere on 9/29/13.
