Live + 7 Day Ratings: "Scandal" Delivers Another High in TV Playback/Six ABC Series Deliver Their Largest-Ever Playback Gains in AD18-49
Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 11/4/13 (Week #7):
ABC's regular Wednesday lineup was pre-empted this week for the CMA Awards.
Based on Nielsen's TV playback data among Adults 18-49, ABC shot up to a 2.6 rating among Adults 18-49 in the final Live + 7 numbers, growing 30% over its first reported Live + Same Day rating. In the non-sports numbers, ABC ranks #1 among Adults 18-49 this season (2.80 rating), beating NBC (2.78), CBS (2.78) and Fox (2.35).
ABC claimed 4 of the week's Top 10 biggest playback gainers among Adults 18-49, tied with CBS for the most for any broadcast network: Grey's Anatomy (+1.9 rating points), Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+1.7 rating points), Scandal (+1.6 rating points) and Once Upon a Time (+1.3 rating points). In addition, Scandal was the week's 2nd-biggest gainer for any 10pm series among Adults 18-49, behind NBC's The Blacklist.
Growing to a 2.4 among Adults 18-49 in the final L+7 data, ABC's Revenge nearly doubled its Live+SD rating (+85%) to post its biggest-ever percentage lift. In fact, several of ABC's series scored their largest-ever gains this week in the young adult demo: The Goldbergs (+60% -- hitting a series-high lift for the 2nd week in a row), S.H.I.E.L.D. (+68%), The Neighbors (+40%), Once Upon a Time (+62%) and Trophy Wife (+46%).
ABC's red-hot Scandal hit a new high in TV playback among Total Viewers, scoring the show's largest-ever increase in L+7 this week with growth of +4.2 million viewers over its L+SD tally.
ABC saw 6 of its 8 dramas grow by more than +2.5 million viewers this week over their initially reported totals via TV Playback: Scandal (+4.2 million), Castle (+4.1 million), Grey's Anatomy (+4.1 million), S.H.I.E.L.D. (+3.8 million - series high), Revenge (+2.8 million) and Once Upon a Time (+2.7 million). In addition, ABC's Shark Tank delivered a season-high build in TV playback this week in Total Viewers (+1.6 million).
In the final Live + 7 Day ratings, ABC delivered 3 of the week's Top 10 highest-rated broadcast shows in Adults 18-49 (versus 1 in the initial Live+SD ratings): Grey's Anatomy (4.6) - #5 (up from #11), Scandal (4.4) - #7 (up from #10) and S.H.I.E.L.D. (4.2) - #10 (up from #15).
· ABC's S.H.I.E.L.D. moved ahead of NCIS in the final L+7 ratings to beat the CBS drama by 8% among Adults 18-49 (4.2 vs. 3.9). Initially in the Live + Same Day ratings, the ABC drama was 4-tenths of a rating point behind NCIS.

Based on TV playback data for the 2013-14 season, ABC claims 4 of the Top 10 biggest gainers among Adults 18-49 on the broadcast networks (the most for any network): Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+2.0 rating points), Modern Family (+1.9 rating points), Grey's Anatomy (+1.9 rating points) and Scandal (+1.6 rating points).
Nearly all of ABC's key returning series are seeing bigger percentage gains among Adults 18-49 from L+SD to L+7 this year than last: Castle (+57% vs. +50%), Dancing with the Stars (+19% vs. +14%), Grey's Anatomy (+66% vs. +50%), Last Man Standing (+46% vs. +38%), Modern Family (+48% vs. +44%), Nashville (+71% vs. +59%), The Neighbors (+30% vs. +15%), Once Upon a Time (+52% vs. +42%), Revenge (+65% vs. +48%), Scandal (+52% vs. +40%) and Shark Tank (+37% vs. +28%).
· S.H.I.E.L.D is Tuesday's #1 TV show this season with Adults 18-49 based on original telecasts, beating NBC's The Voice by 9% (5.1 vs. 4.7).
· ABC's Modern Family is the season's #2 scripted series among Adults 18-49 on the broadcast networks (5.9 rating).
