Through Two Thursday Games, Average Rating is Pacing +43% Versus 2012 Thursday Night Football Schedule
Last night's Kansas City Chiefs-Philadelphia Eagles game on NFL Network delivered a 6.0 US HH rating (9.7 Cvg HH rating) and was watched by an average of 9.4 million viewers (not including over-the-air stations in Kansas City and Philadelphia) - ranking it as the highest-rated Thursday Night Football telecast in NFL Network history.
Won by the Chiefs 26-16, the game telecast edged out the 2009 Cowboys-Saints (5.7) telecast to become the highest-rated game in NFL Network history. With an average of 9.4 million viewers, the Chiefs-Eagles telecast is the fourth-most viewed game on NFL Network behind the 49ers-Ravens in 2011 (10.7 million), Cowboys-Saints in 2009 (10.5 million) and Packers-Cowboys in 2007 (10.1 million).
The Chiefs-Eagles telecast topped last week's Thursday Night Football's 2013 opener between the Jets and Patriots (5.5 US HH Rating & 8.8 million viewers) and also grew by 34% in average viewership and 30% in US HH rating over the NFL Week 3 Thursday Night Football game from 2012 (Giants-Panthers, 4.6 US HH Rating, 7 million viewers).
Overall, the Chiefs-Eagles telecast was the No. 1 US HH rated program last night, making it Thursday's most-watched program among all shows on broadcast and cable television, out-delivering NBC's live finale of The Million Second Quiz and Fox's The X-Factor.
Through two games of its 13-game schedule, Thursday Night Football is averaging a 5.7 US HH rating (+43% vs. 2012 average) and 9.1 million viewers (+42% vs. 2012 average) - on pace to be the highest-rated and most-watched Thursday Night Football season ever.
Thursday Night Football continues next week as the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers travel to St. Louis to face the Rams in an NFC West showdown on September 26 at 8:00 PM ET. The Craftsman Presents NFL Total Access Kickoff pregame show begins at 6:00 PM ET.
