OXYGEN PACING FOR BEST 2nd QUARTER IN NETWORK HISTORY IN ALL KEY DEMOS
POSTS DOUBLE DIGIT GROWTH YEAR OVER YEAR AND MARKS BEST JUNE EVER
NEW YORK - June 26, 2013- Oxygen Media is on track to earn its best second quarter in network history among all key demos, according to Nielsen. In addition, Oxygen ranks in the Top 20 among all ad-supported cable networks with women 18-34. The network is posting double digit growth year over year in primetime in key demos (2Q12 vs. 2Q13), up 20 percent with women 18-34, 17 percent with adults 18-34, 15 percent with women 18-49, and 11 percent with adults 18-49. The record-breaking quarter was fueled by original programming including "Best Ink," "Find Me My Man," "I'm Having Their Baby," "Snapped," "Bad Girls All Star Battle," (BGASB) and "Bad Girls Club," (BGC). For the quarter, Oxygen is averaging 437,000 total viewers. In addition to the network's quarterly successes, Oxygen is also on pace to deliver its best June ever with adults 18-34 and women 18-34. The network is coming off a strong performance in May marked by its highest rated night ever in primetime in all key demos (5/21) and its highest rated week in network history in key demos (w/e 5/26).
This quarter marked digital milestones as well - Oxygen ranks as the #2 most social network to-date in the unscripted space with nearly 2 million social comments, according to BlueFin. Continuing its focus on creative digital and social innovations, the network took social TV to the next level in April with a first-ever partnership with Tumblr, leveraging the social blogging platform's vast user base.
Ratings highs prompted the recently announced season three greenlight of "Best Ink," the popular tattoo competition series hosted by Fall Out Boy bassist and tattoo enthusiast Pete Wentz. The series' second season averaged 588,000 total viewers and delivered its two highest performances of the series with adults 18-49 in back-to-back weeks (5/15/13 with 500,000 and 5/22/13 with 485,000). "Find Me My Man," the network's new matchmaking series featuring Miami's premiere matchmaker to the urban elite Natalie Clarice, averaged 516,000 total viewers, marking impressive double digit growth, up 75 percent compared to the same time period last year. Season two of the heart-wrenching docu-series, "I'm Having Their Baby" is up 30 percent with adults 18-34 and 66 percent with women 18-34 compared to the same time period last year. Continuing to be a pop culture hit in its 10th season, "Snapped" is averaging 593,000 total viewers, up six percent versus the same time period last year. Hosted by actor, musician and heartthrob Ray J, the premiere of BGASB (5/21/13) coupled with BGC landed Oxygen in the #1 and #2 cable telecasts of the day with women 18-49 and women 18-34. BGASB is averaging 1.2 million total viewers and propels the network to the #2 cable network in the hour among women 18-34, out-delivering ABC and CBS.
