"NORTH AMERICA" DOMINATES SUNDAY CABLE IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND PERSONS 25-54 WITH 3.4 MILLION VIEWERS
"ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER" Grabs 2.18 Million Viewers
The May 19 premiere of NORTH AMERICA at 9PM was the #1 ad-supported cable program on Sunday night among Households, Total Viewers P2+, P18+, Persons 25-54 and Persons/Men 18-49 delivery, no exclusions. The season premiere of ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER at 8PM was the #4 ad supported cable program on Sunday among men 25-54. Both series made Discovery Channel the #1 cable network among Men 25-54/18-49 delivery (excluding sports) on Sunday in Prime Time.
NORTH AMERICA earned 2.33 HH / 1.47 P25-54 rating and delivered 3.44 million viewers P2+. It stands as the highest rated natural history telecast on Discovery Channel across key demos, including P25-54, since LIFE premiered on March 21, 2010. Earning a 1.47 P25-54 AA%, the NORTH AMERICA premiere was up +133% vs. the January 8, 2013 premiere of AFRICA (0.63 P25-54 AA%), and up +7% vs. the March 18, 2012 premiere of FROZEN PLANET (1.37 P25-54 AA%).
NORTH AMERICA also out-delivered multiple broadcast programs among Men 18-49 on Sunday night, including CBS' ACM Presents: Tim McGraw's Summer Night and 60 Minutes, and NBC's The Voice.
Leading into NORTH AMERICA at 8PM was the premiere of ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER which earned a series best 1.52 HH / 1.07 P25-54 rating, 1.67 M25-54, 1.38 Men 18-49 and it delivered 2.18 million viewers P2+.
All new episodes of both ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER (8PM) and NORTH AMERICA (9PM) will air on Discovery Channel Sunday, May 26.
