48 HOURS: "Power and Passion" was the Saturday night's #1 program in viewers and households, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for April 13, 2013. 48 HOURS posted its best deliveries in both households and viewers since May 5, 2012 and in adults 25-54 - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - since Feb. 9, 2013.
48 HOURS (10:00-11:00 PM) posted a 4.5/08 HH, with 6.36m viewers and a 1.8/05 in adults 25-54. Compared to the same night last year, 48 HOURS was up +13% in adults 25-54 and +15% in households.
Saturday's broadcast featured 48 HOURS' investigation into the death of Angel Downs, a beautiful real estate agent who was found face-up in front of her home dead from a shot to the head on Mother's Day 2010. A pistol she owned lay inches from her body. As correspondent Richard Schlesinger reported, the death occurred minutes after Downs was dropped off by her boyfriend, Stephen Nodine, a powerful, married politician. Nodine told Schlesinger he did not kill Angel Downs and was nowhere near the driveway when the fatal shot was fired. He believes it was Angel who pulled the trigger. "Power and Passion" follows the investigation and prosecution of Nodine, which included multiple unexpected legal twists. Ultimately, a special prosecutor dropped murder charges against Nodine.
48 HOURS: "Power and Passion" is produced by Allen Alter and Avi Cohen. Grayce Arlotta-Berner is the producer-editor. Diana Modica and Mike Mongulla are the editors. Anthony Batson is the senior broadcast producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
