Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Holds Onto Demo Crown with "The Voice"

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night:

NBC (6.882 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) held onto the top spot on Tuesday thanks to a new "The Voice" (12.952 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 4.2, #1) followed by the two-hour series premiere of "Ready for Love" (3.847 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.6, #7).

CBS (12.834 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2) then was a competitive second place with originals from "NCIS" (16.671 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #T2), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (13.939 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.6, #T2) and "Golden Boy" (7.893 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T8).

Next up was FOX (3.956 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) with fresh installments of "Hell's Kitchen" (4.395 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.8, #6), "New Girl" (4.218 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.2, #4) and "The Mindy Project" (2.816 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T8).

Meanwhile, ABC (8.681 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4) offered up its mix of "Splash" (5.116 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #11), "Dancing with the Stars" (11.815 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #5) and "Body of Proof" (9.063 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #10).

And finally, the return of "Hart of Dixie" (1.239 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #12) plus a repeat of "America's Next Top Model" (0.673 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #13) closed out the evening on The CW (0.956 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Dixie" delivered a 0.9 rating while "Model" posted a 0.4 rating.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.7/4; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/4.

* From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.4/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

* From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/10/12):

NBC (6.73 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.5, #T1) and FOX (5.65 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.5, #T1) split the demo crown on Tuesday as the latter offered up the return of "Glee" (6.69 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.7, #T3) - nevertheless a season low - plus new episodes of "New Girl" (5.27 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 2.7, #T3) and "Raising Hope" (3.95 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T8).

The Peacock then served up new episodes of "The Biggest Loser 13" (6.69 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.2, #7), "The Voice" (8.87 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 3.5, #1) - a season high for NBC in the time slot - and "Fashion Star" (4.65 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T10) - which matched its season high.

Next up was CBS (13.20 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #3) with its original mix of "NCIS" (17.31 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.1, #2) - a season low, "NCIS: Los Angeles" (12.80 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.3, #T5) - a series low - and "Unforgettable" (9.48 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T10) - likewise a series low.

Meanwhile, ABC (9.68 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #4) went with its combination of "Last Man Standing" (6.72 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #12) - its series low, "Cougar Town" (4.96 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.5, #13), "Dancing With the Stars" (13.02 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #T5) - its lowest-rated results show ever - and the season finale of "Body of Proof" (10.17 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T8).

And finally, repeat of "90210" (0.76 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) led into the penultimate week of "Ringer" (1.22 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) on The CW (0.99 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5).
