Tuesday Results:
* From 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.3/13 in 18-49, 13.6 million viewers overall) grew by 5 percent versus last week's 4.1 official-national rating in 18-49 (and grew by 10 percent vs. last week's 3.9 in these prelim fast-affiliate ratings). "The Voice" is also up by 10 percent versus last week in total viewers (13.611 million vs. 12.407 million). Last night's "Voice" is up 34 percent versus the year-ago Tuesday telecast (with a 4.3 rating vs. a 3.2 from 9-10 p.m. on April 3, 2012). In total viewers, "The Voice" is up 61 percent versus the same night last year (13.611 million vs. 8.450 million).
* Last night's 4.3 for "The Voice" beats every Tuesday telecast on every Big 4 net since the "Voice" finale on December 18 (4.9). This is also NBC's best 18-49 rating in the time period since October 30, 2012. "The Voice" is up 115 percent versus NBC's average in the time period last season in 18-49 rating (4.3 vs. 2.0) and 123 percent in total viewers (13.611 million vs. 6.116 million).
* "The Voice" delivered the #1 rating of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, topping the #2 telecast, ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" Results Show by 95 percent (4.3 vs. 2.2).
* From its first half-hour to its second, "The Voice" grew by 0.8 of a point or 21 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.7 from a 3.9) and by 15 percent or more than 1.8 million persons in total viewers (14.5 million vs. 12.7 million).
* In total viewers, "The Voice" is also #1 for the night, even out-delivering "Dancing With the Stars" by a slight margin in total viewers (13.611 million vs. 13.597), pending updates. The 13.6 million is "The Voice's" biggest non-finale Tuesday audience since May 31, 2011 during the show's first cycle.
* At 9 p.m. ET, "The New Normal" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 5.0 million in total viewers) scored the show's highest 18-49 rating since October 9, pending updates. In total viewers, it's currently the top "New Normal" since September 25. In the time period, "The New Normal" is currently tied for #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-34 and women 18-34. "The New Normal" is #2 among those networks in 18-49 and currently running within 0.2 of a point of #1, pending updates.
* At 9:30 p.m. ET, a second telecast of "The New Normal" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.6 million in total viewers) is currently delivering the show's top rating in this time period since January 15 and biggest overall viewership in the slot since December 4.
* From 10-11 p.m. ET, "Smash" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) is currently delivering its highest total-viewer figure in six weeks (since February 19), pending updates. In the time period, "Smash" is currently tied for #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in women 18-34.
* Note that "Smash" continues to add an exceptional amount of viewership via time-shifting, with last week's 18-49 rating growing by 49 percent or 0.47 of a point going from these next-day "live plus same day" ratings to "live plus three day" results (to a 1.43 from a 0.96).
* "Smash" is also currently the most upscale drama and #2 series overall on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox so far this season in its concentration of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes, with an index of 166 in "most current" results that include "live plus three day" time-shifting (100 represents an average concentration of those homes), up from a 150 index last season.
* NBC is #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and other key demos.
In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:
* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.5/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.3/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.3/6.
* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4.
* From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
* From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) tied "Late Late Show" (0.2/2 with an encore).
* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
