UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - September 18, 2012 - NBC has dominated the primetime ratings week of September 10-16, led by the #1 show in 18-49 and total viewers, "Sunday Night Football," and the #1 non-sports show on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49, "The Voice." According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC finished the week with an average 3.1 rating, 9 share in adults 18-49 and 9.0 million viewers overall.

It's the sixth time in eight weeks that NBC has ranked #1 or tied for #1 among ABC, CBS NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and the sixth time in eight weeks NBC has led outright among those networks in total viewers.

For the week, NBC also ranked #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all other key ratings categories.

NBC Sports' Lions-49ers "Sunday Night Football" coverage delivered the #1 rating of the week in adults 18-49 and total viewers, while Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday editions of "The Voice" ranked #1, #2 and tied for #3 for the week among non-sports primetime telecasts on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49. "Go On" also tied for #3 among non-sports telecasts.

For the week, NBC claimed six of the top 10 rankings in adults 18-49 among primetime programs on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox (excluding all football pre- and post-game telecasts) and seven of the top eight in total viewers.

In 18-49, top NBC programs for the week included "Sunday Night Football (#1), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday editions of "The Voice" (#2, #3 and tied for #4 respectively), "Go On" (tied for #4), Wednesday and Thursday editions of "America's Got Talent" (#9 and tied for #15 respectively), Monday and Tuesday telecasts of "The New Normal" (both tied for #12), a Wednesday "Guys With Kids" preview (#17) and "Parenthood" (tied for #22). In total viewers, NBC was led by "Sunday Night Football" (#1), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday editions of "The Voice" (#3, #4 and #6 respectively), the Wednesday and Thursday editions of "Talent" (#5 and #7 respectively) and "Go On" (#8).

Primetime averages for the week of September 10-16 in adults 18-49 were: NBC (3.1/9), Fox (1.9/6), CBS (1.4/4), ABC (1.1/3) and CW (0.3/1). In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: NBC (9.0 million), CBS (6.2 million), Fox (5.2 million), ABC (3.8 million) and CW (0.8 million).

For the 2011-12 broadcast year to date, NBC is #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adult 18-49 rating and total viewers, running within a tenth of a rating point of first-place Fox in 18-49. NBC is also #2 for the broadcast year in total viewers and adults 18-34 and tied for #2, and within a tenth of a point of #1, in adults 25-54. NBC is the only network among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox that's up versus one year ago in total viewers and viewers 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54. Averages for the broadcast year through 51 weeks are: Fox (2.7/8), NBC (2.6/8), CBS (2.4/7), ABC (2.1/6) and CW (0.6/2). In overall total viewers, the broadcast-year averages are: CBS (9.8 million), NBC (8.1 million), Fox (7.5 million), ABC (7.3 million) and CW (1.4 million).

NBC highlights for the week of September 10-16

* On Monday, the season premiere of "The Voice" led NBC to a dominant #1 finish among ABC, CBS., NBC and Fox for the night in 18-49 and total viewers.

* Monday's "The Voice" scored the #1 results of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, defeating that night's series finales on Fox in the time period by margins of 62 percent in 18-49 rating and 92 percent in total viewers. "The Voice" improved on NBC's 18-49 average in the time period last season by 40 percent.

* Also on Monday, a preview telecast of "The New Normal" and a preview encore of "Go On" generated strong sampling, out-rating the time period's ABC and CBS mostly rebroadcast competition combined in 18-49 rating.

* On Tuesday, "The Voice" jumped 25 percent above its initial Tuesday telecast of last season in 18-49 rating, while also improving night to night in the 8 p.m. ET hour by 8 percent and delivering Tuesday's #1 results in 18-49 and total viewers.

* Tuesday's regular-slot premiere of "Go On" scored NBC's best comedy debut in 18-49 in two years and biggest comedy premiere in total viewers in seven years (excludes previews).

* Also on Tuesday, the regular-slot debut of "The New Normal" retained 74 percent of its lead-in from "Go On" and led the slot's ABC, CBS and Fox competition in every key demographic.

* Tuesday's fourth season premiere of "Parenthood" matched the show's finale last season in total viewers and was up 6 percent in total viewers.

* NBC won Tuesday among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and all other key categories, leading six of six half-hours among those nets in 18-49.

* On Wednesday, a special edition of "The Voice" won the hour over Fox's second season premiere of "The X Factor" by margins of 17 percent in 18-49 rating and 41 percent in total viewers. "The Voice" grabbed NBC's highest non-sports 18-49 rating in the time period since June 2011.

* Wednesday's "America's Got Talent" delivered the night's #1 results in total viewers, beating the "X Factor" premiere head to head by 1.3 million persons. "Talent" hit Wednesday season highs in 18-49 and total viewers.

* Also on Wednesday, a special 10 p.m. ET preview of "Guys With Kids" generated strong sampling, beating the half-hour's ABC and CBS encore competition combined in 18-49 and topping those networks in all other key demographics.

* On Thursday, the "America's Got Talent" season finale finished #1 for the night in total viewers, winning head to head versus Fox's "X Factor" Thursday premiere by 1.0 million persons and versus the "Glee" season premiere by 4.5 million. In 18-49, it was NBC's best non-Olympic rating in the hour since September 2011.

* Also on Thursday, "Rock Center" reported its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results ever for a regular telecast.

* On Friday, encores of "Guys With Kids" and "Go On" earned NBC's highest 18-49 ratings in their respective time periods, excluding sports, since May.

* Encores of "The Voice" captured NBC's highest Saturday primetime 18-49 average, excluding sports, since February 11.

* Sunday's Lions-49ers "Sunday Night Football" telecast boosted NBC to a nightlong win among ABC, CBS NBC and Fox in all key categories, as NBC topped ABC, CBS and Fox combined for the night in 18-49 and total viewers.

On Monday, Sept. 10 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.2 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 12.3 million viewers overall) delivered the #1 results of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and total viewers, winning the time period head to head versus Fox's season finales of "Hell's Kitchen" and "MasterChef" by a margin of 62 percent in 18-49 rating (4.2 vs. 2.6) and 92 percent or 5.9 million persons in total viewers (12.3 million vs. 6.4 million). This is NBC's top 18-49 rating in the time period since March 26, excluding Olympics, and is the network's highest total-viewer result in the slot, excluding Olympics, since March 12. "The Voice" delivered dramatic growth through its time period, generating this track in 18-49 rating: 3.3, 4.1, 4.7, 4.8, for a gain of 45 percent from the show's first half-hour to its fourth. In total viewers, the increase is 28 percent or 2.9 million persons (13.2 million vs. 10.3 million). "The Voice" is up 40 percent versus NBC's 18-49 average in the time period last season (4.2 vs. 3.0) and 41 percent in total viewers (12.3 million vs. 8.7 million), despite debuting on a late-summer Monday, two weeks prior to the start of the new season and opposite the finales of Fox's top two summer series. Versus its averages for the show's final four Monday telecasts last spring, "The Voice" was up 14 percent in 18-49 (4.2 vs. 3.7) and 21 percent in total viewers (12.3 vs. 10.1 million). In total viewers, "The Voice" is up versus the show's finale last May by 3 percent (12.3 million vs. 11.9 million) and up by 4 percent versus the show's season one premiere in April 2011 (12.3 million vs. 11.8 million).

Monday from 10-10: 30 p.m. ET, a preview of "The New Normal" (2.5/7 in adults 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall) generated strong sampling, leading the half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key category, and topping the combined rating of ABC's and CBS's mostly encore competition in adults 18-49 (2.5 vs. 0.9 for CBS's varied programming and 0.7 for ABC's "Castle" encore).

Monday from 10: 30-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Go On" (1.8/5 in adults 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) also benefitted from solid sampling, as the rebroadcast beat the combined results of encore competition on ABC and CBS in 18-49 (1.8 vs. a 0.8 for CBS's encore comedies and 0.8 for ABC's rebroadcast "Castle). The "Go On" encore led the half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key category.

NBC won Monday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and total viewers, leading six of six half-hour among those networks in both categories.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.0/12 in 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall) grew by 25 percent versus last season's initial Tuesday telecast (with a 4.0 rating vs. a 3.2 from 9-10 p.m. on April 3) and was up by 35 percent in total viewers (11.4 million vs. 8.5 million). It was NBC's best non-sports 18-49 rating in the time period since January 5, 2011. "The Voice" was the #1 show of the night in 18-49 and total viewers, winning the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in all key categories and beating those competing networks combined in adults 18-49. Versus 8-9 p.m. results for Monday night's "Voice" season premiere, Tuesday's telecast was up 8 percent in 18-49 rating (4.0 vs. 3.7). From its first half-hour to its second, "The Voice" grew by 0.7 of a point or 19 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.3 from a 3.6) and by 16 percent or 1.7 million persons in total viewers (12.3 million vs. 10.6 million). "The Voice" was up 100 percent versus NBC's average in the time period last season in 18-49 rating (4.0 vs. 2.0) and 87 percent in total viewers (11.418 million vs. 6.116 million).

Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, the regular-slot debut of "Go On" (3.4/10 in 18-49, 9.7 million in total viewers) scored NBC's top results for a comedy premiere in two years in 18-49 and the network's top comedy debut in total viewers in seven years (excludes previews). The last higher-rated comedy debut on NBC was "Outsourced" on September 23, 2010 (3.6, benefitting from a 4.4 lead-in from "The Office") and the last higher-scoring comedy debut in total viewers was "My Name is Earl" on September 20, 2005 (15.2 million). "Go On" won the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in all key categories. "Go On" was up 42 percent versus NBC's average in the time period last season in 18-49 rating (3.4 vs. 2.4) and was up 43 percent in total viewers (9.7 million vs. 6.8 million). Versus NBC's premiering performance in the half-hour last season, "Go On" was up 48 percent in 18-49 rating (3.4 vs. 2.3).

Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. ET, the regular-slot debut of "The New Normal" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 7.0 in total viewers) topped the ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox slot competition in all key demographics. "The New Normal" retained 74 percent of its "Go On" lead-in in 18-49. "The New Normal" matched its 2.5 preview rating of the prior night, which aired following the high-rated season premiere of "The Voice," and was up 1 percent in total viewers (7.0 million vs. 6.9 million).

Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, the fourth season premiere of "Parenthood" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 5.5 million in total viewers) matched the show's season-finale rating from last February 28 and was up 6 percent in total viewers (5.484 million vs. 5.159 million). Versus the show's last four telecasts in February, Tuesday's "Parenthood" was up 12 percent in 18-49 (1.9 vs. 1.7) and up 14 percent in total viewers (5.484 million vs. 4.796 million). "Parenthood" was #1 or tied for #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key demographics.

NBC won Tuesday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and all other key categories, leading all six half-hours among those nets in 18-49.

On Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (3.4/11 in 18-49, 10.9 million viewers overall) won the hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and total viewers, as well as adults, men and women 25-54, men and women 18-49; and adults and women 18-34, in a highly competitive time period versus Fox's second season premiere of "The X Factor" and CBS's "Big Brother." "The Voice" generated NBC's top non-sports 18-49 rating in the time period since June 29, 2011 and more than doubled NBC's average in the time period last season (1.5, L+SD non-sports), despite the competition from "X Factor" and "Big Brother." "The Voice's" margins versus "X Factor" in the hour were 17 percent in 18-49 rating (3.4 vs. 2.9) and 41 percent or 3.2 million persons in total viewers (10.891 million vs. 7.721 million). From its first half-hour to its second, "The Voice" grew by 0.8 of a rating point or 27 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.8 from a 3.0) and by 22 percent or more than 2.1 million persons in total viewers (12.0 million vs. 9.8 million).

Wednesday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 11.0 million viewers overall) won the hour in total viewers with the #1 results of the night. Head to head for the hour, "Talent" out-delivered "X Factor" in total viewers by 14 percent or 1.3 million persons (11.0 million vs. 9.7 million). "Talent" retained 85 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "The Voice" and grew versus lead-in by 1 percent. "Talent" delivered season highs for a Wednesday telecast in 18-49 and total viewers.

Wednesday from 10-10: 30 p.m. ET, a preview of "Guys With Kids" (2.2/6 in adults 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) generated strong sampling, leading the half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key demographic and topping the combined rating of ABC's and CBS's encore competition in adults 18-49 (2.2 vs. 1.3 for CBS's "CSI" rebroadcast and 0.7 for ABC's "Revenge" encore). Excluding a special "America's Got Talent" that ran in the 10 p.m. hour on June 27, the 2.2 for "Guys With Kids" is NBC's highest non-Olympic rating in the time period since September 21, 2011.

Wednesday from 10: 30-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The New Normal" (1.3/4 in adults 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) also benefitted from solid sampling, tying for #1 versus the time period's encore competition on ABC and CBS in adults 18-49..

On Thursday, Sept. 13 from 8-10 p.m. ET, the season finale of "America's Got Talent" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 10.6 million viewers overall) finished #1 in the time period and for the night in in total viewers versus competition that included Fox's Thursday premiere of "The X Factor" and season premiere of "Glee" "Talent" topped Fox's two hours by a margin of more than 2.7 million viewers or 35 percent (10.6 million vs. 7.8 million). Head to head in total viewers, "Talent" out-delivered "X Factor" by 12 percent or 1.0 million persons (9.3 million vs. 8.3 million from 8-9) and topped "Glee" by 61 percent 4.5 million persons (11.9 million vs. 7.4 million from 9-10). In 18-49, "Talent" was #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in the slot with NBC's best rating in the time period since September 29, 2011, excluding Olympics. Week to week, "Talent" was up 26 percent in 18-49 (2.4 vs. 1.9) and 34 percent in total viewers (10.590 million vs. 7.875 million). "Talent" grew dramatically through its four half-hours by 56 percent with this 18-49 track: 1.8, 2.1, 2.7, 2.8. In total viewers, "Talent" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 40 percent or 3.5 million persons (12.1 million vs. 8.6 million).

Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, "Rock Center" (1.4/4 in1 8-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) set series records for a regular telecast in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers (excludes the two-hour Jan. 23 telecast that featured a Republican debate, 1.6/4 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall). "Rock Center" was #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key categories.

NBC was #1 Thursday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in total viewers (9.1 million) and #2 among those networks in 18-49.

On Friday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Guys With Kids" averaged a 1.0/4 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall, to deliver NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period, excluding sports, since May 18. The "Guys With Kids" encore ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and most other key demographics.

Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Go On" averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall, to earn NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the half-hour, excluding sports, since May 18. The "Go On" encore ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and other key categories.

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Grimm" delivered a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 2.1 million viewers overall. "Grimm" captured the show's top 18-49 and total-viewer results among five encores aired in the time period so far this summer.

Friday at 10 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall, to match its top 18-49 rating for a Friday telecast since August 17 and to deliver its biggest Friday audience over that same four-week period.

Saturday, Sept. 15, from 8-10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Voice" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's top 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period, excluding sports, since May 19. From its first half-hour to its fourth, the 8-10 p.m. "Voice" encore grew by 100 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.2 from a 0.6) and 49 percent or more than 1.3 million persons in total viewers (4.1 million vs. 2.7 million).

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, a second rebroadcast of "The Voice" (1.2/4 in 18-49 and 4.0 million viewers overall) scored NBC' highest 18-49 rating in the hour, excluding sports, since December 24, 2011 and the network's biggest overall audience for a non-sports telecast in the slot since May 19. The 10 p.m. "Voice" encore finished #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in all key adult-female categories.

The "Voice" rebroadcasts combined for a 1.0 primetime rating, NBC's top Saturday 18-49 average, excluding sports, since February 11.

On Sunday, Sept. 16, the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Detroit Lions at the San Francisco 49ers propelled NBC to a decisive Sunday win by all key measures. For its full duration, the Lions-49ers game averaged an 8.9/23 in adults 18-49, 21.3 million viewers overall and a 12.9/21 household rating/share from 8:31-11:15 p.m. ET. The Lions-49ers telecast generated the fourth-best 18-49 and total-viewer results for an NFL week-two primetime game since 1999.

For the night (from 7:30-11 p.m. ET), NBC averaged a 7.7/20 in 18-49 and 18.3 million viewers overall, to win the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox by all key ratings measures, and to beat the ABC, CBS and Fox competition for the night combined in 18-49, total viewers and households. In total viewers, NBC's margin of victory was 87 percent, or 8.5 million persons over the second-place network (18.3 million vs. 9.8 million for CBS, which was boosted by an NFL overrun). In adults 18-49, NBC's margin of victory over the No. 2 network was 175 percent (7.7 vs. 2.8 for CBS).

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:56 p.m. ET averaged a 3101/3 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall and a 4.5/8 household rating/share. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:56-8:21 p.m. delivered a 5.0/15 in 18-49, 11.7 million viewers overall and a 7.4/12 in households. From 8:21-8:31 p.m., "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 6.4/18 in 18-49, 15.2 million viewers overall and an 9.3/15 in households. Note: "Football Night in America" from 7-7:30 p.m. ET was sustaining and is excluded from nightly and weekly primetime averages.
