Popular Drama Wins Prestigious International TV Audience Award For The Fifth Time In The Award's Seven-Year History
Presented By Monte Carlo Television Festival And Eurodata TV Worldwide
Monte Carlo, June 14, 2012 - CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION is once again the most-watched show in the world, receiving the prestigious International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series at the 52nd Monte Carlo Television Festival on June 14, 2012. This marks the fifth time the series has been awarded this honor in the past seven years based on stats from Eurodata TV Worldwide for the highest ratings worldwide in 2011 across five continents. CSI star Ted Danson was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the series.
The International Audience Awards are presented jointly by the Monte Carlo Television Festival and Eurodata TV Worldwide to reward programs that delivered the highest ratings worldwide in 2011 across five continents in three categories: Drama TV Series, Comedy TV Series and Telenovelas/Soap Operas. The nominees were pre-selected among the 15 best imported fiction programs in 65 countries, i.e., nearly three billion potential viewers. CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION gathered more than 63 million viewers worldwide, surpassing the nominated shows in all three categories and making it the most-watched show in the world. CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was joined by its spinoff series CSI: MIAMI and CSI: NY as the only nominees in the Drama TV series category, marking the first time ever in the Award's history that all three series competed in the same category.
One of the top-rated dramas in America, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION is a fast-paced drama about a team of forensic investigators trained to solve crimes by examining the evidence. In Season 12, multi-Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Ted Danson and Academy Award winner Elisabeth Shue joined the established cast of George Eads, Paul Guilfoyle, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Robert David Hall, David Berman, Wallace Langham and Elisabeth Harnois.
