'LAST CALL' HITS A FOUR-WEEK HIGH IN TOTAL VIEWERS
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - March 22, 2012 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" has earned #1 finishes in viewers 18-49 and total viewers for the week of March 12-16 over the ABC and CBS time-period competition, delivering bigger audiences than CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" in all key ratings categories. Note that CBS Thursday and Friday programs were delayed by NCAA basketball coverage and are excluded from this report.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, encore telecasts of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" delivered bigger audiences than CBS's original telecasts of "Late Late Show with Craig Fersuson" in viewers 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories.
"Tonight" delivered a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Show" for the 12th time in 13 weeks and Jimmy Fallon attracted a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Late Show" for a 16th week in a row.
At 1:35 a.m. ET for the week, "Last Call with Carson Daly" hit a four-week high in total viewers, averaging 964,000 persons, highest for the show since the week of February 13-17.
Through the first 26 weeks of the season, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 14 percent (3.760 million vs. 3.287 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 8 percent. Jimmy Fallon has established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 16 percent (1.800 million vs. 1.552 million), up from last year's advantage of 0.3 percent. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 42 percent (285,000 vs. 201,000) up from last year's 27 percent, and in adults 25-54, up to 11 percent (886,000 vs. 798,000) up from 3 percent at this point last season.
