UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - February 24, 2012 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" have earned #1 finishes in viewers 18-49 and total viewers for the week of February 13-17 over the ABC and CBS time-period competition.
For the week, "Tonight" and CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" tied in 18-49 ratings with a 0.8 rating each, while in viewers 18-49, "Tonight" out-delivered "Late Show" 1.072 million adults 18-49 to 1.058 million. In total viewers, "Tonight's" margin over "Late Show" was 13 percent (3.795 million vs. 3.352 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET for the week, Jimmy Fallon topped CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories. Jimmy led "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-49 by a 22 percent margin (710,000 vs. 580,000) and in total viewers by 16 percent (1.745 million vs. 1.506 million).
"Tonight" delivered a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Show" for the ninth week in a row and Jimmy Fallon attracted a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Late Show" for a 12th week in a row.
Through the first 22 weeks of the season, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 14 percent (3.768 million vs. 3.317 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 8 percent. Jimmy Fallon has established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 17 percent (1.823 million vs. 1.556 million), up from last year's advantage of 0.2 percent. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 45 percent (293,000 vs. 202,000) up from last year's 30 percent, and in adults 25-54, up to 12 percent (894,000 vs. 800,000) up from 3 percent at this point last season.
