ON SATURDAY, ENCORE TELECASTS OF 'THE VOICE' AND 'SMASH' PROPEL NBC TO A #1 FINISH AMONG THE BROADCAST NETWORKS IN ADULTS 18-49

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - February 14, 2012 - Led by Monday's regular time period debut of "The Voice" and the series premiere of "Smash," NBC averaged a 2.1 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall for the week of February 6-12, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

The regular night and time period debut of "The Voice" on Monday was the #2 ranked telecast of the week in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, and the #1 series program, trailing only CBS's Sunday telecast of the Grammy Awards. Also ranking among the top programs of the week in adults 18-49 was the series debut of "Smash," which ranked #12. In overall total viewers, "The Voice," with an average 17.8 million viewers overall, ranked #5 among all programs and "Smash" (11.4 million) ranked #12.

Primetime averages for the week of February 6-12 in adults 18-49 were CBS (4.2/11), Fox (2.5/7), NBC and ABC (2.1/6) and CW (0.7/2). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (15.4 million), Fox (7.0 million), ABC (6.5 million), NBC (6.4 million) and CW (1.6 million).

Versus the same week last year, NBC this week was up 31 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.1 rating from a 1.6), 25 percent in adults 25-54 (2.5 vs. 2.0) and 11 percent in total viewers (6.394 million vs. 5.736 million).

NBC highlights for the week of February 6-12:

* On Monday, the time-period debut of "The Voice" and the series premiere of "Smash" combined to give NBC a dominant Monday win in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. The debuting shows gave NBC its highest-rated Monday night with regularly scheduled programming since March 2004.

* NBC's Monday lineup generated the highest-rated night after the Super Bowl on any network in adults 18-49 in 10 years.

* On Monday from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Voice" delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period, excluding Olympics, in nearly eight years and the network's biggest overall non-Olympic viewership in the slot since January 2007. "The Voice" also generated NBC's highest 18-49 rating for a regular-season entertainment telecast on any night of the week in over four years.

* Versus last year's premiere, the second season time-period premiere of "The Voice" was up 31 percent in 18-49 rating and 52 percent or more than 6.0 million persons in total viewers.

* Also on Monday, the series premiere of "Smash" scored the highest 18-49 rating for any telecast of a regular 10 p.m. ET drama on the broadcast networks on any night of the week so far this season. "Smash" delivered NBC's top in-season 18-49 and total-viewer results in this time period since November 3, 2008.

* The debut of "Smash" marks NBC's highest-rated new drama premiere in adults 18-49 in more than four years

* On Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser" gained 10 percent in adults 18-49 versus the prior week to hit a three-week high in primetime's key demographic. "Loser" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 24 percent in 18-49 rating.

* On Wednesday, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" was up 11 percent in 18-49 rating versus its last original telecast on January 18, to match the show's highest 18-49 rating since November "SVU" grew from its first half-hour to its second in adults 18-49 and total viewers while competing first-run dramas on ABC and CBS declined half-hour to half-hour in both measures.

* On Thursday, a one-hour episode of "30 Rock" was up 23 percent in adults 18-49 and 20 percent in total viewers versus the prior week's half-hour telecast.

* Also on Thursday, "The Office" built on its "30 Rock" lead-in by 56 percent in 18-49 rating and 34 percent in total viewers.

* Additionally on Thursday, an encore telecast of Sunday's second-season debut of "The Voice" scored a nine-week high for NBC in the 10 p.m. ET slot, delivering the network's top 18-49 rating in the hour since a December 8 telecast of "Grimm." The rebroadcast of "The Voice" was up 36 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's average in the slot this season.

* On Friday, "Who Do You Think You Are?" uncovered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the 8 p.m. ET hour so far this season. "Who Do You Think You Are?" was up 8 percent versus the prior week's premiere in adults 18-49 to match the show's highest rating since February 11, 2011.

* Also on Friday, "Grimm" scared up week-to-week gains of 14 percent in adults 18-49 and 11 percent in total viewers. "Grimm" finished within 0.1 of a rating point of the slot lead in adults 18-49, while ranking #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers and #1 in men 18-49 and men 25-54.

* Additionally on Friday, "Dateline NBC" reported gains versus the prior week of 36 percent in adults 18-49, 40 percent in adults 25-54 and 10 percent in total viewers.

* On Saturday, encore telecasts of "The Voice" and "Smash" propelled NBC to a #1 finish in primetime among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and other key demos.

* On Sunday, "Dateline NBC" reported its highest 18-49 rating for a Sunday telecast since August 2009 and its biggest overall viewership for a Sunday edition since February 2009. Versus its results for the same Sunday night last year, "Dateline" was up 33 percent in 18-49 rating and 29 percent in total viewers.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of February 6-12:

On Monday, Feb. 6 from 8-10 p.m. ET, the regular time-period debut of "The Voice" (6.7 rating, 17 share in adults 18-49, 17.8 million viewers overall) dominated the 8-10 p.m. ET time period, winning every half-hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers versus first-run competition on ABC, CBS, Fox and CW.

"The Voice" delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period, excluding Olympics, in nearly eight years (since February 16, 2004) and the network's biggest overall non-Olympic viewership in the slot since January 15, 2007. "The Voice" also generated NBC's highest 18-49 rating for a regular-season entertainment telecast on any night of the week in over four years (since "Heroes" on September 24, 2007).

"The Voice" grew dramatically from its first half-hour to its fourth, gaining 43 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 7.7 rating from a 5.4) and 25 percent or 3.9 million persons in total viewers (to 19.448 million from 15.583 million).

Versus last year's premiere, the second season time-period premiere of "The Voice" was up 31 percent in 18-49 rating (6.7 vs. a 5.1 on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 9-11 p.m.) and up 52 percent or more than 6.0 million persons in total viewers (17.844 million vs. 11.775 million).

Monday at 10 p.m. ET, the series premiere of "Smash" (3.8/10 in 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall) scored the highest 18-49 rating for any telecast of a regular 10 p.m. drama on the broadcast networks on any night of the week so far this season. "Smash" delivered NBC's top in-season 18-49 and total-viewer results in this time period since November 3, 2008 ("SNL" election special).

"Smash" ranked #1 versus all broadcast and cable competition in the 10 p.m. ET hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

The debut of "Smash" marks NBC's highest-rated new drama premiere in adults 18-49 in more than four years (since September 26, 2007, "Life"). "Smash" is also NBC's highest-rated drama telecast on any night of the week since an episode of "Law & Order: SVU" on April 28, 2009 (3.9).

"Smash" nearly quadrupled NBC's season average in the time period (3.8 vs. 1.0) and nearly tripled NBC's season average in total viewers (11.448 million vs. 3.864 million).

NBC dominated the primetime landscape Monday night versus all original programming on the other broadcast networks. In adults 18-49, NBC topped its closest primetime competitor by 58 percent (with a 5.7 rating versus a 3.6 for CBS in second place). In total viewers, NBC beat its closest competitor by 44 percent or 4.8 million persons (15.7 million vs. 10.9 million for CBS).

This marked NBC's first in-season Monday night win with regularly scheduled programming in four years (since February 18, 2008) and the network's highest 18-49 rating on a Monday night with regularly scheduled programming since March 22, 2004 (also a 5.7 in 18-49).

Monday, Feb. 6 also marked the highest-rated night following the Super Bowl in adults 18-49 in 10 years, since CBS posted a 5.9 rating on January 29, 2001.

On Tuesday, February 7 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser 13" (2.3/6 in 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall) gained 10 percent in 18-49 rating versus the prior week (2.3 vs. 2.1), to hit a three-week high in primetime's key demographic. In total viewers, "Biggest Loser" added 5 percent week to week (6.407 million vs. 6.114 million).

"The Biggest Loser" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 24 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.6 from a 2.1) to rank #2 in its final half-hour in adults 18-49, topping, among other competitors, ABC's debut of "The River" and Fox's "Raising Hope." For that final half-hour, "Loser" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in women 18-34. .

Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, "Parenthood" averaged a 1.6/4 in 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall. Note that "Parenthood" has been adding 44 percent to its "live plus same day" 18-49 ratings when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results.

On Wednesday, February 8 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, "Whitney" delivered a 1.5/5 in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall. Versus NBC's average in this time period last season,

"Whitney" was up 15 percent in 18-49 rating (1.5 vs. 1.3, "live plus same day"). It's worth noting that so far this season, first-run telecasts of "Whitney" have been adding on average 35 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results.

Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET, "Are You There, Chelsea?" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall) retained 100 percent of its 18-49 lead-in despite time period competition from the concluding half-hour of "American Idol," CBS's special "Person to Person" and ABC's "Suburgatory." Versus NBC's average in this time period last season,

"Whitney" was up 7 percent in 18-49 rating (1.5 vs. 1.4, "live plus same day"). Keep in mind that first-run telecasts of "Chelsea" have been adding on average 24 percent to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results.

At 9 p.m. ET, the Wednesday debut of "Rock Center with Brian Williams" averaged a 1.1/3 in adults 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "Rock Center" grew by 20 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.2 rating from a 1.0), 15 percent in adults 25-54 (1.5 vs. 1.3) and 23 percent or more than 1.0 million persons in total viewers (5.619 million vs. 4.586 million).

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.0/5 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating since November 30. "SVU" was up 11 percent in 18-49 rating versus its last original telecast on January 18 (2.0 vs. 1.8) and built on its lead-in from the previous hour by 82 percent in 18-49 rating and 28 percent in total viewers. Note that so far this season, first-run episodes of "Law & Order: SVU" have been adding 46 percent to these "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results.

"SVU" grew from its first half-hour to its second by 10 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.1 from a 1.9) and 8 percent in total viewers (to 6.8 million from 6.3 million), while competing first-run dramas on ABC and CBS declined from half-hour to half-hour in both measures.

On Thursday, February 9 from 8-9 p.m. ET, a one-hour episode of "30 Rock" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall) was up week-to-week by 23 percent in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.3) versus an 8-8:30 p.m. telecast the prior week. In total viewers, "30 Rock" gained 20 percent week to week (3.876 million vs. 3.226 million) in this tough time period against such competition as Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Big Bang Theory" and "Rob" and ABC's "Wipeout." Note that "30 Rock" has been adding 46 percent to these "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results so far this season.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "The Office" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 56 percent in 18-49 rating and 34 percent in total viewers. "The Office" finished #1 in men 18-34 and #2 in adults and women 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54 in a competitive time period versus ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," CBS's "Person of Interest" and Fox's "The Finder." Note that on average this season, original telecasts of "The Office" have been adding 44 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen includes additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings

Thursday at 9:31 ET, "Up All Night" (1.7/4 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) finished #2 or tied for #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults, men and women 18-34 in a competitive time period opposite the concluding half-hours of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," CBS's "Person of Interest" and Fox's "The Finder." Note that "Up All Night" originals have been adding on average 48 percent to their "live plus same day" 18-49 ratings so far this season when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of Sunday's second-season debut of "The Voice" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall) scored a nine-week high for NBC in the time period, delivering the network's top 18-49 rating in the hour since a December 8 telecast of "Grimm" (1.6). The rebroadcast of "The Voice" was up 36 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's 1.1 average in this slot this season.

"The Voice" rebroadcast grew from its first half-hour to its second by 7 percent in adults 18-49 (1.5 vs. 1.4) and total viewers (3.664 million vs. 3.418 million), while competing first-run dramas on ABC and CBS declined half-hour to half-hour in both measures. .

On Friday, February 10 at 8 p.m. ET, "Who Do You Think You Are?" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this hour, excluding sports, in 10 months (since the "Who Do You Think You Are?" season finale on April 8, 2011). The 1.3 also matches the series' highest rating in adults 18-49 since February 11, 2010). Versus the prior week's season premiere, "Who Do You Think You Are?" was up 8 percent in 18-49 rating (1.3 vs. 1.2).

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, "Grimm" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall) scared up week-to-week gains of 14 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.6 rating from a 1.4) and 11 percent in total viewers (5.299 million vs. 4.787 million). In the time period, "Grimm" finished within 0.1 of a rating point of the slot lead in adults 18-49, ranking #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers and #1 in men 18-49 and men 25-54. "Grimm" built on its lead-in by 23 percent in 18-49 rating. Note that on average this season, "Grimm" originals have been adding 59 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen includes additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings

Friday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.5/5, 5.2 million viewers overall) reported gains versus the prior week of 36 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5 rating from a 1.1), 40 percent in adults 25-54 (2.1 vs. 1.5) and 10 percent in total viewers (5.192 million vs. 4.701 million). In the hour, "Dateline" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers. "Dateline" grew from its first half-hour to its second by 14 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.6 rating from a 1.4), 17 percent in adults 25-54 (2.1 vs. 1.8) and 18 percent in total viewers (5.623 million vs. 4.761 million). .

On Saturday, February 11 from 8-10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Voice" (1.2/4, 4.3 million viewers overall) won the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers. From its first half-hour to its fourth, the Saturday rebroadcast of "The Voice' grew by 67 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.5 from a 0.9) and 35 percent in total viewers (4.938 million vs. 3.661 million).

The Saturday encore telecast of "The Voice" scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period, excluding sports, since the network's December 24 telecast of "It's a Wonderful Life" and the season's second-highest non-sports rating in the time period. In total viewers, it was NBC's highest delivery in the slot since January 21 (the Betty White specials) and second-highest non-sports result of the season.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Smash" averaged a 0.8/2 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall. The "Smash" encore ranked #2 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key categories and tied for #1 in adults 18-34 and was #1 outright in women 18-34.

NBC ranked #1 in primetime Saturday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and other key demos.

On Sunday, Feb. 12 from 7-9 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall) reported its highest 18-49 rating for a Sunday telecast since August 9, 2009 and its biggest overall viewership for a Sunday edition since February 15, 2009. Versus its results for the same Sunday last year, "Dateline" was up 33 percent in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.2) and 29 percent in total viewers (6.788 million vs. 5.280 million).

Sunday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Fear Factor" averaged a 1.5/3 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall. Despite competition from the Grammy Awards telecast on CBS, "Fear Factor grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 42 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.7 from a 1.2) and 36 percent in total viewers (4.364 million vs. 3.217 million). For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Fear Factor" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key ratings categories ahead of ABC's first-run drama "Pan Am."
