UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - June 3, 2011 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" is #1 for the May 2011 sweep versus CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's combination of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in viewers 18-49, total viewers and other key categories. At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" also out-delivered CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in 18-49 viewers, total viewers and nearly all other key categories.
For the month, "Tonight" topped "Late Show" by a 17 percent margin in adults 18-49 (with 1.321 million viewers vs. 1.133 million), virtually matching Jay's 18 percent margin for May 2010 and increasing his lead versus the most recent sweep in February, when Jay prevailed over "Late Show" by a 5 percent margin.
For the May sweep at 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon topped "Late Late Show" by a 14 percent margin in adults 18-49 (834,00 vs. 734,000), up from Jimmy's 10 percent margin in May 2010.
So far during the 2010-11 television season versus the first 36 weeks of last season, "Tonight" is up by 15 percent in total viewers (3.869 million vs. 3.350 million), while "Late Show" is down 9 percent (3.550 million vs. 3.895 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon is up 13 percent versus his year-ago pace in total viewers (1.767 million vs. 1.562 million), while "Late Late Show" is down 6 percent (1.754 million vs. 1.874 million).
At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" is up so far this season versus one year ago by 5 percent in 18-49 viewers (495,000 vs. 473,000) and up 14 percent in total viewers (988,000 vs. 863,000).
Jay Leno has ranked #1 for 34 of 36 weeks this season versus "Late Show" in viewers 18-49 and total viewers. Jimmy Fallon has ranked #1 versus "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-49 for 36 of 36 weeks this season. In total viewers, Jimmy has out-delivered "Late Late Show" during 21 of the last 28 weeks.
