NBC RESULTS FOR THE PRIMETIME WEEK OF MAY 16-22
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - May 24, 2011 - Led this week by "The Voice" and the season finale of "The Office," NBC averaged a 1.8 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers overall for the week of May 16-22, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.
In a week in which series season finales figured prominently in the upper tier of the weekly rankings, "The Voice" finished #4 among all primetime programs for the week in adults 18-49. "The Voice" ranked among the top 10 programs of the week in every key demographic measure - adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 18-34; and adults, men and women 25-54 - as well as among teens 12-17 and kids 2-11. Through four telecasts, "The Voice" is the season's #1 new series in adults 18-49 and ranks behind only "American Idol" among all entertainment series on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW.
Also ranking among the top programs of the week in adults 18-49 were "The Office" (#7), "The Celebrity Apprentice" (#19, tied) and "The Biggest Loser" and "Law & Order: SVU" (#21, tied).
Among adults 18-34, the season finale of "The Office" was the #2 primetime program of the week, trailing only the Wednesday edition of "American Idol" and tied with the Thursday "Idol." "The Voice" ranked #4 in the 18-34 demo, behind only "The Office" and the two editions of "Idol." Also ranking among the top programs of the week in adults 18-34 were the Thursday 10 p.m. telecast of "Parks and Recreation" (#15), the 10:30 p.m. "Parks and Recreation" (#18) and "The Biggest Loser" and "Law & Order: SVU" (tied at #19).
Primetime averages for the week of May 16-22 in adults 18-49 were Fox (3.0/9), ABC (2.4/7), CBS (2.0/6), NBC (1.8/5) and CW (0.7/2). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (10.1 million), Fox (8.9 million), ABC (8.7 million), NBC (5.4 million) and CW (1.5 million).
Through Sunday, May 22, with 25 nights of the 28-night Nielsen May 2011 sweep measured, sweep averages in adults 18-49 are: Fox (2.8/8), ABC (2.3/7), CBS (2.1/6), NBC (1.8/5) and CW (0.8/2). In total viewers, the 25-night May sweep averages are CBS (9.9 million), ABC (8.5 million), Fox (8.2 million), NBC (5.4 million) and CW (1.8 million).
In the May sweep to date, NBC's "The Voice" is the #3 ranked primetime program in adults 18-49, behind only the two editions of "American Idol," and "The Office" ranks #5 (tied). Among adults 18-34, "The Office" ranks #2 sweeps to date and "The Voice" ranks #3, behind only the Wednesday edition of "Idol."
NBC highlights for the week of May 16-22:
* On Monday, the season finale of "Chuck" scored the show's highest 18-49 rating since March 21 and attracted its biggest overall viewership since March 14 in a highly competitive time period opposite ABC's "Dancing With The Stars," Fox's "House" and CBS's "How I Met Your Mother."
* On Tuesday, "The Voice" delivered the highest 18-49 rating of the night, topping every other single hour on television and outperforming such formidable primetime rivals as Fox's "Glee," CBS's season finales of "NCIS," "NCIS: LA" and "The Good Wife" and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and season finale of "Body of Proof."
* "The Voice" won the Tuesday 10 p.m. ET hour among the broadcast networks in all key demos, matching or topping the season-finale dramas on ABC and CBS combined in adults, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. In the key demo of adults 18-49, "The Voice" prevailed by an 88 percent margin over its closest broadcast competitor.
* NBC ranked #1 in primetime Tuesday night versus all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demographics. This marks NBC's fourth consecutive Tuesday win in adults 18-49.
* On Wednesday, the season finale of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" apprehended the show's highest 18-49 rating since February 7 and matched its top18-49 result since the show's season premiere on September 22, 2010. In total viewers, "SVU" locked up its biggest overall audience since January 5.
* Week to week, "Law & Order: SVU" was up 21 percent in adults 18-49 and 11 percent in total viewers. The "SVU" season finale was up 7 percent in adults 18-49 versus last year's season finale.
* "Law & Order: SVU" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in its hour in all key measures - adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 25-54; and adults, men and women 18-34, as well as total viewers.
* On Thursday, the season finale of "The Office" was the #1 scripted program of the night in adults 18-49 on an evening that included the season finales of CBS's "Big Bang Theory" and "The Mentalist," ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" and Fox's "Bones."
* "The Office" season finale was up versus last year's finale by 15 percent in adults 18-49 and 10 percent in total viewers.
* Also on Thursday, "Parks and Recreation" scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the Thursday 10-10:30 p.m. time period in 15 weeks. "Parks" ranked #1 in the slot among the broadcast networks in adults and men 18-34 versus the season finales of ABC's "Private Practice" and CBS's "The Mentalist."
* On Sunday, the season finale of "The Celebrity Apprentice" grew versus the prior week by 20 percent in adults 18-49 and by 26 percent or nearly 1.8 million persons in total viewers. In its two-hour time period, "Celebrity Apprentice" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults 25-54 and #2 in total viewers versus such competition as ABC's "Billboard Music Awards," CBS's "Jesse Stone" movie and Fox's "Family Guy."
* From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Celebrity Apprentice" built by 28 percent in adults 18-49 and by 22 percent or more than 1.6 million persons in total viewers. For its second hour from 10-11 p.m., "Celebrity Apprentice" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 25-54.
* Also on Sunday, "Dateline NBC" reported its highest 18-49 rating for a Sunday edition in 11 weeks. Week to week, "Dateline" grew 30 percent in adults 18-49 and 22 percent in total viewers

Monday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "The Event" (1.3/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) grew versus the prior week by 18 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating from a 1.1) and 6 percent in total viewers (4.074 million vs. 3.850 million).
Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: LA" averaged a 1.1/3 in adults 18-49 and 4.4 million viewers overall.
On Tuesday, May 17 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser: Couples" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall) weighed in with its heftiest 18-49 rating in eight weeks (since March 22) in a highly competitive time period opposite Fox's "Glee," ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" and CBS's season finales of "NCIS" and "NCIS: LA." Week to week, "Biggest Loser" was up 12 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.9 rating from a 2.6) and 3 percent in total viewers (7.157 million vs. 6.961 million).
From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Loser" gained 28 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.2 from a 2.5) and 18 percent or more than 1.1 million persons in total viewers (7.606 million vs. 6.470 million). For its second hour from 9-10 p.m. ET, "Biggest Loser" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-34.
Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.5/11 share in adults 18-49, 10.0 million viewers overall) delivered the highest 18-49 rating of the night, outscoring every other single hour on television and topping such formidable primetime rivals as Fox's "Glee," CBS's season finales of "NCIS," "NCIS: LA" and "The Good Wife" and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and season finale of "Body of Proof."
"The Voice" won the 10 p.m. ET hour among the broadcast networks by an 88 percent margin in adults 18-49 (4.5 vs. a 2.4 for the season finale of CBS's "The Good Wife"). "The Voice" won the hour in all key demographics, and matched or topped the hour's season-finale dramas on ABC and CBS combined in adults, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34.
Versus its lead-in from the prior 9-10 p.m. ET hour of "Biggest Loser," "The Voice" grew by 41 percent in 18-49 rating (4.5 vs. 3.2) and 30 percent or 2.3 million persons in total viewers (10.0 million vs. 7.7 million).
Versus NBC's season average for the Tuesday 10-11 p.m. ET hour prior to the debut of "The Voice," the week-four telecast of "The Voice" was up 96 percent in adults 18-49 (with a 4.5 rating vs. a 2.3, live plus same day) and up 63 percent in total viewers (10.005 million vs. 6.149 million).
Versus NBC's season average for the Tuesday 10-11 p.m. ET hour prior to the debut of "The Voice," the first four weeks of "The Voice" are up in the hour by 122 percent in adults 18-49 (with a 5.1 rating vs. a 2.3, live plus same day) and 85 percent in total viewers (11.377 million vs. 6.149 million).

On Wednesday, May 18 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Minute To Win It" averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period opposite Fox's "American Idol," ABC's "The Middle" and CBS's "Criminal Minds" encore. "Minute" was up week to week by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 0.9) and 14 percent in total viewers (3.491 million vs. 3.063 million), to deliver its top results in the time period in both measures since March 30.
Wednesday from 9-10 p.m. ET, an encore "Minute To Win It" averaged a 0.9/2 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall in another competitive slot opposite Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Criminal Minds," ABC's "Modern Family" and CW's season finale of "America's Next Top Model." The "Minute" rebroadcast grew from its first half-hour to its second in all key measures, including gains of 25 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.0 rating from a 0.8) and 18 percent in total viewers (3.131 million vs. 2.661 million).
Wednesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, the season finale of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.9/7 in adults 18-49, 9.0 million viewers overall) apprehended the show's highest 18-49 rating since February 7 and matched its top18-49 result since the show's season premiere on September 22, 2010. In total viewers, "SVU" locked up its biggest overall audience since January 5.
Week to week, "Law & Order: SVU" was up 21 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.9 from a 2.4) and 11 percent in total viewers (9.0 million vs. 8.1 million). The "SVU" season finale was up 7 percent in adults 18-49 versus last year's season finale (2.9 vs. 2.7).
"Law & Order: SVU" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in all key measures - adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 25-54; and adults, men and women 18-34, as well as total viewers.
From its first half-hour to its second, "SVU" grew in all key ratings categories, including gains of 7 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 3.0 rating from a 2.8), 6 percent in adults 25-54 (3.4 vs. 3.2) and 6 percent in total viewers (9.257 million vs. 8.699 million), while competing first-run programming on ABC and CBS declined half-hour to half-hour in all three measures.
On Thursday, May 19 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" averaged a 1.2/4 in adults 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall. At 8:30 p.m., another rebroadcast of "The Office" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this half-hour in eight weeks (since March 24).
Thursday from 9-10 p.m. ET, the season finale of "The Office" (3.9/10 in adults 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall) was the #1 scripted program of the night in adults 18-49 on an evening that included the season finales of CBS's "Big Bang Theory" and "The Mentalist," ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" and Fox's "Bones." "The Office" won the 9-10 p.m. hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demographic measures.
"The Office" season finale was up versus last year's finale by 15 percent in adults 18-49 (3.9 vs. a 3.4 from 9-9:31 p.m. ET on May 20, 2010) and 10 percent in total viewers (7.295 million vs. 6.637 million).
From 10-10:29 p.m. ET, "Parks and Recreation" (2.4/6 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the 10-10:30 p.m. time period in 15 weeks (since February 3). In the slot, "Parks" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults and men 18-34 versus the season finales of ABC's "Private Practice" and CBS's "The Mentalist."
Thursday from 10:29-11 p.m. ET, a second episode of "Parks and Recreation" (2.0/5 in adults 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's top 18-49 rating in the half-hour in four weeks (since April 21). In the time period, the 10:30 p.m. "Parks" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults and men 18-34.
On Friday, May 20 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Friday Night Lights" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall) scored its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in four weeks (since April 22). Week to week, "Lights" grew 13 percent in 18-49 rating (0.9 vs. 0.8) and 16 percent in total viewers (3.339 million vs. 2.884 million).
Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.1/4 in 18-49 and 5.2 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" grew by 44 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating from a 0.9), 46 percent in adults 25-54 (1.9 vs. 1.3) and 39 percent or more than 1.6 million persons in total viewers (6.0 million vs. 4.3 million).
On Saturday, May 21 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Chase" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49. "Chase" matched NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since March 5 and hit a three-week high in total viewers.
Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: LA" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall, matching its highest 18-49 rating for a Saturday encore since March 5.
Saturday from 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall) grew from its first half-hour to its second in all key ratings measures, including gains of 22 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.1 rating from a 0.9) and 12 percent in total viewers (5.064 million vs. 4.518 million).
On Sunday, May 22 from 7-8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) reported its highest 18-49 rating for a Sunday edition in 11 weeks (since March 6). Week to week, "Dateline" grew 30 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.3 from a 1.0) and 22 percent in total viewers (4.907 million vs. 4.019 million).
From 8-9 p.m. ET, "Minute To Win It" (1.2/3 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) grew versus the prior Sunday's results by 33 percent in 18-49 rating (1.2 vs. 0.9) and 22 percent in total viewers (4.173 million vs. 3.426 million). "Minute" increased from its first half-hour to its second in all key ratings categories, including gains of 40 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.4 from a 1.0) and 21 percent in total viewers (4.565 million vs. 3.761 million).
Sunday from 9-11 p.m. ET, the season finale of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (3.0/7 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall) grew versus the prior week by 20 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.9 rating from a 2.5) and by 26 percent or nearly 1.8 million persons in total viewers (8.6 million vs. 6.8 million).
"Celebrity Apprentice" built on its lead-in from the 8-9 p.m. hour by 208 percent in 18-49 rating and 106 percent in total viewers. In its two-hour time period, "Celebrity Apprentice" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults 25-54 and #2 in total viewers versus such competition as ABC's "Billboard Music Awards," CBS's "Jesse Stone" movie and Fox's "Family Guy."
From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Celebrity Apprentice" grew by 28 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.2 from a 2.5) and by 22 percent or more than 1.6 million persons in total viewers (9.160 million vs. 7.515 million).
