NICKELODEON CLOSES WEEK AS NUMBER-ONE TOTAL DAY CABLE NET
SpongeBob SquarePants Nabs Eight of Top 10 Telecasts with Kids;
Nickelodeon Preschool Scores Four Out of Top Five Preschool Telecasts for Week
NEW YORK-May 3, 2011-Nickelodeon closed the week (4/25/11-5/1/11) as basic cable's number-one total day network with total viewers (2.1 million) and kids 2-11 (3.3/1.2 million) for the 18th consecutive week this year. The net also bested its closest competitor by double-digits with total viewers (+38%), kids 2-11 (+32%), kids 6-11 (+4%), tweens 9-14 (+0%) and kids 2-5 (+75%).
Nick's weekly win was fueled by performances by SpongeBob SquarePants, which nabbed eight of the top ten telecasts with kids 2-11, and T.U.F.F. Puppy, the latest addition to Nick's hit animated series roster, which ranks as the number-two animated series for the week (behind SpongeBob SquarePants).
For the week, Nickelodeon's preschool programming block (Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-2 p.m. ET/PT) bested its closest competitor by TK-digits with kids 2-5 (+90%) and total viewers (+39%), and boasts four of the top five preschool telecasts (#1 Max & Ruby, #2 Dora the Explorer and #3 Bubble Guppies, #4 Team Umizoomi).
