"NIGHTLINE" IS NO. 1 SEASON TO DATE AMONG ADULTS 25-54 AND TOTAL VIEWERS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1993
"NIGHTLINE" IS NO. 2 IN TOTAL VIEWERS,
ADULTS 18-49 AND ADULTS 25-54 FOR THE WEEK
ABC News' "Nightline" took second in Total Viewers (3.86 million), Adults 25-54 (1.60 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.20 million), beating CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman," according to Nielsen Media Research for the week of January 17, 2011.
Season to date, "Nightline" ranks in first place among Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. This is the first time "Nightline" that has been in first place at this point in the season since at least the 1993-94 season, when "Letterman" began on CBS. In addition, "Nightline" is up by +3% in Adults 25-54 season to date compared to the same point last year.
For the 3rd week in a row, "Nightline" improved on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+5%), Adults 25-54 (+13%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%). In fact, the ABC program grew over the same week last year in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 in 6 of the last 7 weeks. Among the three late night shows, "Nightline" stood as the only program to build on the year-ago week in all three Nielsen measures.

During the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday week, ABC Late-Night was up over the same week last year (w/o 1/18/10) by 8% in Total Viewers (2.32 million vs. 2.15 million), by 10% in Adults 18-49 (837,000 vs. 761,000) and by 16% in Adults 25-54 (1.06 million vs. 911,000), scoring its 3rd straight week of year-to-year increases. In fact, ABC stood as the only broadcast network in late-night to build over the year-ago week in all three measures.

Impressively, "JKL" stood as the only late-night entertainment program among the broadcast networks to post year-to-year increases in both viewers and the key young adult demo.
· ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" topped CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" by 7% in Adults 18-49 (689,000 vs. 646,000), beating the CBS late-night program for the 4th week in a row.
