NBC.COM IS #1 WEBSITE AMONG COMPETITIVE BROADCAST NETWORKS FOR 2009
FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR NBC.COM HAS HIGHEST MONTHLY AVERAGE UNIQUE VISITORS, MINUTES AND AVERAGE MINUTES PER VISIT; "THE BIGGEST LOSER," "THE OFFICE" AND "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" SET SITE RECORDS FOR FULL EPISODE STREAMS
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - February 10, 2010 - Fans have made NBC.com the #1 broadcast network site for 2009. For the calendar year, the fan-favorite site topped the competition in monthly averages of unique visitors (7 million), minutes (91 million) and time spent per visit (6.6 minutes), according to the key industry source comScore.
In addition, NBC.com and its NBC network series sites delivered 7.3 million unique visitors per month on average. The site also posted year-to-year gains in total minutes by 11 percent.
NBC.com reached record-breaking site numbers last year for short-form widget streams, mobile traffic reach and full-episode streams, with "The Biggest Loser," "The Office" and "Saturday Night Live" setting full episode stream records. Short-form widgets grew 10 percent in 2009, with driving forces including "Saturday Night Live" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."
NBC's "The Biggest Loser" was the #1 NBC.com show site in page views (239 million) for the year. "The Biggest Loser" site features photos which received 105 million page views, of which 18 million plus are for The Viewer Weight Loss Gallery; a contestant section that boasts 24 million page views; and Where Are They Now video clips triggering 2.1 million streams.
On NBC.com, "The Office" took top honors in monthly average uniques (2.1 million) and total Rewind streams (116 million), due to innovative efforts such as the critically acclaimed NBC.com webisodes, Subtle Sexuality; Jim and Pam�s Wedding site (www.halpertbeesly.com) which featured inside scoop from Pam and a personal video blog; and Dunder Mifflin Infinity -- the show's social networking game that attracted 26 million page views and is the longest-running site of its kind for a television show.
"Saturday Night Live" was the top NBC.com site for the year in short-form streams (63 million) and widget streams (14 million). Standout digital shorts include: Motherlover starring Justin Timberlake, I'm On A Boat featuring T-Pain and Firelight and a "Twilight" parody with Taylor Swift. Additionally, the site had heavy traffic for sketches. Top sketch performers for 2009 include: The Taylor Swift Monologue Song, Jeopardy Sketch starring Will Ferrell and Tom Hanks, Tiger Woods Accident and Gilly featuring Kristen Wiig.
NBC.com is participating in comScore's newly launched Media Metrix 360, a panel-centric hybrid solution to digital audience measurement, and its 2009 numbers are reflective of this new approach. Media Metrix 360 combines person-level measurement from comScore's proprietary 2 million person global panel with Web site server metrics.
