NBC WINS FRIDAY IN 18-49 AND TOTAL VIEWERS WITH ITS BIGGEST FRIDAY OVERALL VIEWERSHIP SINCE THE 2008 OLYMPICS

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - December 15, 2009 - Fueled by "NBC Sunday Night Football," "The Biggest Loser" and "The Office," all of which ranked among the top five programs of the week in adults 18-49, NBC won the week in primetime's key demographic, averaging a 2.8 rating, 8 share in 18-49 and 8.8 million viewers overall for the week of December 7-13, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

For the week, NBC also ranked #1 among the major networks in adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics - men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 - and was #2 in adults 25-54 and all key adult-female demographics, as well as total viewers.

NBC placed three programs among the top five this week in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49 - NBC's "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Philadelphia Eagles at the New York Giants was the #1 primetime program of the week in adults 18-49, "The Biggest Loser" ranked #3 (tied) and "The Office was #5 (tied) (rankings exclude all NFL pre- and post-game telecasts).

This marks the 13th telecast in a row of "NBC Sunday Night Football" to top the weekly primetime adult 18-49 rankings (excluding NFL pre- and post-game shows, and including a tie with the Thursday NFL season opener). "Sunday Night Football" was also the #1 primetime program of the week in adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demographics. With an average 20.9 million viewers, "Sunday Night Football" also ranked #1 among all programs this week in total viewers.

The finale of "The Biggest Loser" also placed in the top tier of the weekly rankings in numerous other key measures in addition to adults 18-49. "Loser was the #5 program of the week in adults 18-34, the #4 program in adults 25-54 and the #1 primetime program of the week among women 18-49 and women 25-54.

Among adults 18-34, NBC had four of the top 10 primetime shows of the week, with "Sunday Night Football" ranking #1, "The Office" #2, "Biggest Loser" #5 and "30 Rock" #9 (tied) (rankings exclude all NFL pre- and post-game telecasts).

Primetime averages for the week of December 7-13 in adults 18-49 were NBC (2.8/8), CBS (2.7/8), Fox (2.2/6), ABC (2.0/6) and CW (0.7/2). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (10.6 million), NBC (8.8 million), ABC (6.8 million), Fox (6.2 million) and CW (1.6 million).

NBC highlights for the week of December 7-13:

* On Sunday, NBC Sports' "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Philadelphia Eagles at the New York Giants led NBC to a commanding primetime win in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34,18-49 and 25-54, as well as teens 12-17 and total viewers. NBC's margin of victory over its closest network competitor Sunday night was 110 percent in adults 18-49 and 38 percent in total viewers.

* On Saturday, NBC's 27th primetime telecast of the 1946 classic movie "It's a Wonderful Life" increased by 88 percent in adults 18-49 and 62 percent or 2.2 million persons from its first half-hour to its sixth. In its final hour from 10-11 p.m., "It's a Wonderful Life" ranked #1 among the major networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key demos.

* On Friday, "Law & Order" ranked #1 in its slot among the major networks in all key ratings categories, while locking up a season high in total viewers.

* Also on Friday, "Dateline NBC" reported the top results of the night in adults 18-49 and total viewers, and delivered its highest 18-49 rating for a Friday telecast since June and its biggest overall viewership for a Friday edition since March of 2008.

* Additionally on Friday, "The Jay Leno Show" generated its biggest 18-49 and total-viewer results for a Friday telecast in seven weeks. Versus the prior Friday, "Leno" was up 17 percent in adults 18-49 and 22 percent in total viewers. In the time period, "Leno" ranked #1 among the major networks in all key adult-male demographics and #2 in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.

* For the full Monday-Friday week, "The Jay Leno Show" delivered its highest weekly 18-49 average in nine weeks and its biggest total-viewer average in 10 weeks.

* NBC ranked #1 among the major networks Friday in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. In adults 18-49, this was NBC's highest-rated Friday since September 18. In total viewers, this was NBC's top Friday average since the August 2008 Beijing Olympics and first primetime win of the season for NBC by that measure.

* On Thursday, "The Office" won its time period in adults 18-49, as well as adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49. "The Office" attracted its biggest overall audience since October 22 and matched its highest 18-49 rating since that same date.

* Also on Thursday, "30 Rock" ranked #1 among the major networks in its half-hour in adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49 and #2 in adults 18-49. Week-to-week, "30 Rock" was up 7 percent in adults 18-49 and 10 percent in total viewers to score its top results in both measures since October 22.

* Additionally on Thursday, "Community" delivered its biggest overall viewership since moving to the 8 p.m. ET slot on October 8. In the time period, "Community" ranked #1 among the major networks in men 18-34 and #2 in adults 18-34.

* Thursday's "Jay Leno Show" was up 7 percent in adults 18-49, 19 percent in adults 25-54 and 5 percent in total viewers versus the prior week. "Leno" ranked #2 among the major networks in the hour in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures.

* On Wednesday, "Law & Order: SVU" was up 35 percent in both adults 18-49 and total viewers versus NBC's average in the slot last year during the traditional September-May season.

* On Tuesday, the finale of "The Biggest Loser" weighed in with the show's highest 18-49 rating and biggest overall viewership in four years, since the finale of the show's second cycle on November 29, 2005. This was the third-highest "Biggest Loser" telecast ever in both 18-49 rating and total viewers, behind only the finales of the first and second cycles.

* "The Biggest Loser" was the #1 telecast Tuesday night in adults 18-49 and won its two-hour time period in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Biggest Loser" gained 41 percent in 18-49 rating and added 32 percent or more than 3.6 million persons in total viewers

* Also on Tuesday, "The Jay Leno Show" scored its highest 18-49 rating for any night of the week since Wednesday, Sept. 16, during the "Leno Show" premiere week, and its biggest overall viewership on any night of the week since Thursday, Sept. 17, also during "Leno's" premiere week

* Tuesday's "Jay Leno Show" won its hour in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

* NBC won Tuesday night in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics. This marked NBC's highest-rated night of the season so far in adults 18-49, excluding sports. It was also the highest Tuesday primetime 18-49 average this season for any broadcast network.

* On Monday, "The Jay Leno Show" was up 17 percent in adults 18-49 rating, 31 percent in adults 25-54 and 12 percent in total viewers versus the prior Monday. "Leno" attracted its biggest overall viewership for a Monday telecast in six weeks and matched its highest 18-49 and 25-54 Monday ratings in eight weeks.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, December 7, from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged a 1.4 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., a second rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in from the previous hour by 14 percent in 18-49 rating.

Monday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.4/4 in adults 18-49, a 1.7/4 in adults 25-54 and 4.7 million viewers overall. Monday's time-period competition included CBS's "CSI: Miami" rebroadcast, ABC's "Castle" encore and a Baltimore-Green Bay NFL game on ESPN.

Versus the prior Monday, "The Jay Leno Show" was up 17 percent in 18-49 rating (1.4 vs. 1.2), 31 percent in adults 25-54 (1.7 vs. 1.3) and 12 percent in total viewers (4.7 million vs. 4.2 million). "Leno" matched its highest Monday 18-49 and 25-54 rating in eight weeks (since October 12) and attracted its biggest overall Monday viewership in six weeks (since October 26). .

On Tuesday, December 8 from 8-10:01 p.m. ET, the finale of "The Biggest Loser" (5.0/13 in adults 18-49, 13.5 million viewers overall) scored the series' top results in both adults 18-49 and total viewers since the finale of the show's second cycle on November 29, 2005. Versus the year-ago "Biggest Loser" finale (a 4.6/12 in 18-49 and 11.8 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008), this cycle's finale was up 9 percent in 18-49 rating and 14 percent or more than 1.6 million persons in total viewers.

This was the third-highest "Biggest Loser" telecast ever in both 18-49 rating and total viewers, behind only the finales of the first and second cycles

"The Biggest Loser" was the #1 telecast Tuesday night in adults 18-49 and won its 8-10:01 p.m. ET time period in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Biggest Loser" gained 41 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 5.8/15 from a 4.1/12) and added 32 percent or more than 3.6 million persons in total viewers (to 15.2 million from 11.5 million).

Tuesday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 2.9/8 in adults 18-49, a 3.4/9 in adults 25-54 and 8.3 million viewers overall. Tuesday's time period competition included encore telecasts of CBS's "The Good Wife" and ABC's "The Forgotten."

"The Jay Leno Show" won the hour in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

"The Jay Leno Show" scored its highest 18-49 rating for any night of the week since Wednesday, Sept. 16 (a 3.5), during the "Leno Show" premiere week, and its biggest overall viewership on any night of the week since Thursday, Sept. 17 (8.8 million), also during "Leno's" premiere week.

Versus Jay Leno's 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Tuesday's telecast was up in adults 18-49 (2.9 vs. 1.4), adults 25-54 (3.4 vs. 1.8) and total viewers (8.3 million vs. 5.1 million). Comparisons to NBC's Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the prior 52 weeks were: in adults 18-49 (2.9 vs. 2.2), adults 25-54 (3.4 vs. 2.7) and total viewers (8.3 million vs. 6.9 million).

NBC won Tuesday night in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics. Excluding sports, this marks NBC's highest-rated night of the season so far in adults 18-49. It was also the highest Tuesday primetime 18-49 average this season for any broadcast network.

On Wednesday, December 9 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Mercy" averaged a 1.8/5 in adults 18-49 and 7.0 million viewers overall. "Mercy" was up 13 percent in adults 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.6) and 22 percent in total viewers (7.0 million vs. 5.7 million) versus NBC's averages in this slot during the traditional 2008-09 season.

Wednesday from 9-10:01 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged a 2.3/6 in adults 18-49 and 7.9 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, the "SVU" rebroadcast increased by 9 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.4 from a 2.2) and 5 percent in total viewers (to 8.2 million from 7.7 million). "SVU" was up 35 percent in adults 18-49 (2.3 vs. 1.7) and 35 percent in total viewers (7.9 million vs. 5.9 million) versus NBC's averages in this slot during the traditional 2008-09 season.

Wednesday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.3/4 in adults 18-49, a 1.5/4 in adults 25-54 and 4.5 million viewers overall. Wednesday's time-period competition included CBS's "CSI: NY" and ABC's Barbara Walters special.

In the time period, "Community" ranked #1 among the major networks in men 18-34 and #2 in adults 18-34. "Community" was up 29 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's average this season in this time period prior to "Community's" debut (2.2 vs. 1.7). It is worth noting that so far this season, "Community" has added 25 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results.

Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET, "Parks and Recreation" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) matched it highest 18-49 rating since November 5 and attracted its biggest overall audience since that same date. "Parks" ranked #1 among the major networks in the slot among men 18-34. "Parks and Recreation" retained 95 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "Community" and has now retained 95 percent or more of its 18-49 lead-in with 12 of 12 telecasts in this slot so far this season. It's worth noting that, "Parks and Recreation" has added 20 percent to its 18-49 rating this season when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "The Office" (4.2/11 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in its time period in adults 18-49 and tied CBS's "Survivor: Samoa" as the #1 telecast of the night in that key demographic. "The Office" also ranked #1 in its slot among adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49, topping CBS's "CSI, " Fox's "Fringe" and ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" encore in those key measures.

"The Office" matched its highest 18-49 rating since October 22 and delivered its biggest overall audience since that same date. Versus the prior Thursday, "The Office" was up 0.1 in 18-49 rating (4.2 vs. 4.1) and 6 percent in total viewers (8.5 million vs. 8.0 million). "The Office" is a heavily time-shifted show, adding an average 27 percent to its 18-49 rating so far this season when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results. In total viewers, "The Office" adds more than 1.9 million viewers to its previously reported "live plus same day" results when "live plus seven day" ratings are released.

Thursday from 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, "30 Rock" (3.2/9 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall) scored its top results in both 18-49 and total viewers since October 22. Versus the prior Thursday, "30 Rock" gained 7 percent in 18-49 rating (3.2 vs. 3.0) and 10 percent in total viewers (6.7 million vs. 6.1 million).

In the time period, "30 Rock" ranked #2 in adults 18-49, finishing within 2 shares of the time period lead, and ranked #1 among the major networks in adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49. "30 Rock" matched its highest 18-49 rating since October 29 and attracted its biggest overall viewership since November 5. "30 Rock" is a heavily time-shifted program, so far this season adding an average 24 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results. Thursday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.6/5 in adults 18-49, a 1.9/5 in adults 25-54 and 5.0 million viewers overall. Thursday's time-period competition included CBS's "Mentalist" and ABC's "Private Practice" encore. Friday from 9-10:01 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall) reported the #1 results of the night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers. "Dateline" ranked #1 among the major networks in its time period in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and most other key measures.

This marked "Dateline NBC's" highest Friday 18-49 rating since June 26 and biggest overall viewership for a Friday telecast since March 28, 2008.

Friday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.4/5 in adults 18-49, a 1.9/5 in adults 25-54 and 5.7 million viewers overall. In the time period, "Leno" ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers and #1 in all key adult-male demographics - men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. Friday's time-period competition included CBS's "Numb3rs" encore and ABC's "20/20."

"The Jay Leno Show" delivered its top 18-49 and total-viewer results for a Friday telecast in seven weeks (since October 23). Versus the prior Friday, "Leno" was up 17 percent in 18-49 rating (1.4 vs. 1.2), up 27 percent in 25-54 rating (1.9 vs. 1.5) and up 22 percent or more than 1.0 million persons in total viewers (5.7 vs. 4.7 million). .

In total viewers, "Leno" averaged 5.6 million viewers, its highest weekly average in 10 weeks (since September 28-October 2).

NBC ranked #1 among the major networks Friday night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34, total viewers and other key measures. In adults 18-49, this was NBC's highest-rated Friday since September 18 and the network's first Friday win since that same date. In total viewers, this was NBC's top Friday result since the 2008 Summer Olympics from Beijing and first primetime win of the season by that measures.

On Saturday, December 12 from 8-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of the 1946 movie classic "It's a Wonderful Life" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall) tied for #2 among the major networks in adults 25-54 and was #2 outright among men 25-54.

From its first half-hour to its sixth, "It's a Wonderful Life' increased by 88 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.5 from a 0.8) and by 62 percent or 2.2 million persons in total viewers (to 5.7 million from 3.5 million). For its final hour from 10-11 p.m., "It's a Wonderful Life" ranked #1 among the major networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos.

This marks NBC's 27th primetime telecast of "It's a Wonderful Life," directed by Frank Capra and starring Jimmy Stewart, since the movie was brought to broadcast network television in 1994. In 2006, the American Film Institute named "It's a Wonderful Life" the most inspiring movie of all time in its list of America's 100 Most Inspiring Movies.

On Sunday, December 13, the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Philadelphia Eagles at the New York Giants led NBC to a commanding primetime win in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as teens 12-17 and total viewers. For its full duration, the Eagles-Giants game averaged a 7.8/20 in adults 18-49, 20.9 million viewers overall and a 12.7/21 household rating/share from 8:31-11:51 p.m. ET.

For the night (from 7:30-11 p.m. ET), NBC averaged a 6.3/16 in adults 18-49 and 17.5 million viewers overall. Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:58 p.m. ET averaged a 2.4/7 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall and a 4.2/7 household rating/share. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:58-8:22 p.m. delivered a 3.5/10 in 18-49, 10.1 million viewers overall and a 6.2/10 in households. From 8:22-8:31 p.m., "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 5.1/14 in 18-49, 15.1 million viewers overall and an 9.1/15 in households.
