A&E Finishes Best September in Network History Posting Double-Digit Viewer Growth
Continuing its phenomenal ratings success, A&E enjoyed its best September ever among all key demographics behind the strength of the network's expansive slate of original series, highlighted by success of the number one freshman non-fiction series on cable among adults 25-54, "Hoarders" and the Emmy(R) Award-winning series "Intervention." For the month, A&E ranked as the #4 entertainment cable network among adults 25-54 and #5 among both adults 18-49 and total viewers.
The network was up 14% among total viewers (1.6 million), 8% in adults 25-54 (762,000) and 2% in adults 18-49 (711,000) versus September 2008, setting all-time audience levels for the month. September 2009 marked the 38th consecutive month in which A&E has landed among the top 10 with adults 25-54 in prime among all ad-supported cable networks.
For the third quarter of 2009 and year-to-date, A&E currently ranks number #4 among adults 25-54, #5 among adults 18-49 and #6 among total viewers, versus all entertainment cable networks, improving its total viewer delivery by 8% versus the same time period in 2008.
