HGTV Ranks #8 P25-54 Among All Ad-Supported Cable for Week of 8/31/09
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. [For Immediate Release - September 10, 2009] HGTV's strong Sunday night performance capped off a great week and helped deliver the network's highest ever prime time weekly average audience among key demos, including P18-49 (521,000) and M18+ (341,000). HGTV posted a #8 P25-54 ranking among ad supported cable for the week of 8/31/09 in prime time.
HGTV Design Star's eighth episode on Sunday, 9/6/09 at 10P delivered a 2.41 HH Rtg/1.28 P25-54 Rtg, an increase of 15% and 7%, respectively over the prior episode. The episode garnered HGTV's highest ever average audience for any prime time program in the history of the network among HHs (2,376,000 impressions), P18+ (2,892,000), and W18+ (2,234,000 impressions) and was rated #1 among W25-54 out of all ad-supported cable programs.
On average, the eighth episode delivered 3,046,000 P2 impressions. It also performed well among key female demos, with W25-54 garnering a 1.89 Rtg, an increase of 17% over the prior episode and W18-49 posting a 22% increase versus the prior week with a 1.54 rating. Compared to the prior season of Design Star, the fourth season posted ratings that are 20% ahead among all key demos.
Since the premiere episode, nearly 22 million P2+ and more than 11 million P25-54 have tuned into the fourth season of Design Star.
Bolstered by HGTV Design Star's performance, the third episode of The Property Shop at 11P delivered ratings increases of more than 20% compared to the same time period in 2008.
The strong performances lead HGTV to a #6 P25-54 ranking among ad supported cable in prime on Sunday night. This week's episode of Design Star placed 2nd among all ad supported cable programs on Sunday night among P25-54.
