BELOVED BART BASS BITES THE DUST AS THE CW'S "GOSSIP GIRL" REMAINS #1 WITH YOUNG WOMEN
"Privileged" Matches Series Best For Second Consecutive Week
December 9, 2008 (Burbank, CA) - The CW's hit drama GOSSIP GIRL ranked #1 in the 8:00p.m. hour with women 18-34 (3.6/10-tie CBS), and finished second in the time period with females 12-34 (3.2/9), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Monday, Dec. 8, 2008. GOSSIP GIRL also beat NBC's "Chuck" and Fox's "Prison Break" among adults 18-34 (2.2/6) and persons 12-34 (2.0/6).
Following GOSSIP GIRL, an original episode of PRIVILEGED matched its series' best performance among women 18-34 (2.4/6) and adults 18-34 (1.5/4), on par with last week's special Monday telecast. PRIVILEGED finished third in the hour among women 18-34 and females 12-34 (2.0/5), beating Fox's "Terminator" and the first hour of ABC's "Boston Legal."
The CW ranked second on Monday night with women 18-34 (3.0/8) and females 12-34 (2.6/7). The CW beat Fox and ABC on the night with adults 18-34 (1.9/5).
GOSSIP GIRL will return with original episodes on Monday, January 3 (8:00-9:00p.m.). In its second season, GOSSIP GIRL has delivered dramatic growth, improving over season on by 38% in women 18-34, 35% in adults 18-34 and 22% in viewers.
PRIVILEGED will return with original episodes in its regularly scheduled time period on Tuesday, January 6 (9:00-10:00p.m.).
