For the second consecutive week, ABC increased its overall audience from the comparable year-ago frame (8.8 million vs. 8.7 million w/o 3/26/07).
Rankings: ABC claimed 4 of the week's Top 15 television shows among Adults 18-49: "Dancing with the Stars" No. 4, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" No. 7 and "Oprah's Big Give" and "Dancing w/Stars Results" tied at No. 13. Additionally the Network placed 5 of the Top 15 most-watched television programs for the week, including 2 of the Top 4: "Dancing with the Stars" No. 3, "Dancing w/Stars Results" No. 4, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" No. 9, "Oprah's Big Give" No. 12 and "Dancing w/Stars Recap" No. 15.
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped from over 14% at the same point in 2006, up to more than 23% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
