Oxygen Celebrates Its Most Successful Quarter Ever
NETWORK MARKS MAJOR MILESTONES WITH ITS MOST WATCHED TELECAST, MOST WATCHED ORIGINAL MOVIE AND MOST WATCHED ACQUIRED MOVIE EVER
Oxygen.com Sees a 213% Increase
New York � March 27, 2008 � Oxygen, the fastest growing cable network in 2007, begins 2008 by celebrating its most successful quarter ever in both primetime and total day for total viewers, W18-49, W18-34 and P18-49. In addition, three of Oxygen's telecasts broke records this quarter � and four topped the one million viewers mark. This marks the first full quarter in which Oxygen is under the leadership of Lauren Zalaznick and has been owned and operated by NBC Universal.
In primetime for first quarter, Oxygen averaged a 0.4 HH coverage rating (up 33% from 1Q07) with 355,000 total viewers 2+ (up 23%), 137,000 W18-49 viewers (up 29%) and 195,000 P18-49 viewers (up 30%). This quarter marks the 11th consecutive quarter of year-to-year growth in primetime among W18-49 and P18-49 for Oxygen.
For total day in first quarter, Oxygen averaged a 0.2 HH coverage rating. 1Q08 also yielded the network's best ever results on a total day basis among among total viewers (214,000 up 14%), W18-49, (88,000 up 16%) and P18-49 (125,000 up 17%). On a total day basis, Oxygen marks its 16th consecutive quarter of year-to-year growth among W18-49, P18-49 and total viewers.
Oxygen's digital properties are also celebrating their best quarter. Oxygen.com posted over 16.5 million page views this quarter. That is an increase of +174% compared to last quarter and an increase of +213% over 1Q2007.
Oxygen also enjoyed its best March ever. In prime, Oxygen scored a 0.4 HH coverage rating (up 33% from March 2007). The network averaged 368,000 total viewers (up 26%) and 202,000 P18-49 viewers (up 27%). For W18-49, the network averaged 143,000 viewers (up 27% from March 2007), tying the network record set last month for the most watched month ever among the demo.
The success was fueled by three of Oxygen's original series, "The Bad Girls Club," "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency" and "Snapped" which all saw their most successful seasons ever. Averaging 731,000 total viewers, "The Bad Girls Club" season two is up 15% from the show's previous season. "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency's" third season averaged 459,000 total viewers, a gain of 4% over the previous season. And Oxygen's true crime series "Snapped" continues to pull in viewers, averaging 559,000 total viewers, up 4% from the prior season average.
Oxygen marked a major milestone this quarter with its most-watched telecast ever with the February 26 episode of "The Bad Girls Club" (Taken for a Ride) delivering 1,166,000 total viewers. Another episode of "The Bad Girls Club" (February 19, Sucker Punched) garnered 1,129,000 total viewers.
The network also celebrated another ratings high point with its most watched original movie to date, "Husband for Hire" with 1,114,000 total viewers. Additionally, the network saw its most watched acquired movie to date, "Pride and Prejudice" with 1,032,000 Total Viewers.
