Weekly Rankings: ABC aired 5 of the week's Top 20 TV programs in Adults 18-49: "Boston Legal" � No. 10, "The Next Best Thing" � No. 12, "Wife Swap" � No. 15 and "According to Jim SP2" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" tied at No. 20. In addition to finishing in the weekly Top 10 with Adults 18-49, the season finale of "Boston Legal" also ranked as the week's No. 7 TV program in Total Viewers. ABC News' "20/20" was the week's No. 1 newsmagazine in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.
Monday
"Wife Swap" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
"Wife Swap" won its time period among Total Viewers (6.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.4/7), outperforming its unscripted competition in the hour, NBC's "Wedding Crashers" (3.9 million & 1.5/5 in Adults 18-49) and Fox's "On the Lot" (3.0 million & 1.3/4 in Adults 18-49).
"Ex-Wives Club" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
The series debut of ABC's "Ex-Wives Club" beat its unscripted competition in the time slot on Fox ("On the Lot") by 2.5 million (5.3 million vs. 2.8 million) and by 54% in Adults 18-49 (2.0/5 vs. 1.3/3). "Ex-Wives Club" finished second in the hour across each of the key women demos: Women 18-34 (2.4/7), Women 18-49 (2.8/7) and Woman 25-54 (3.1/8).
� Compared to ABC's year-ago Monday summer series debut of "How to Get the Guy" (4.3 million and 1.8/5 in Adults 18-49 on 6/12/06), "Ex-Wives Club" was up 1.0 million viewers and by 11% in Adults 18-49.
Tuesday
Finishing second on Tuesday night in Adults 18-49, ABC was up by 1.7 million viewers (6.7 million vs. 5.0 million) and by 28% in young adults (2.6/3 vs. 1.8/5) compared to the same night last year (5/30/06).
Boston Legal" (10:01-11:00 p.m.)
The season finale of ABC's "Boston Legal" won the 10 o'clock hour in both Total Viewers (9.9 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.8/8). The third season finale of "Boston Legal" was up by 6% in Total Viewers and by 8% among Adults 18-49 (2.8/8 vs. 2.6/6) over the year-ago second season finale.
Wednesday
With the series debut of "The Next Best Thing" in the opening hour of the night, leading into a repeat airing of "Traveler," followed by the time period premiere of "Traveler" at 10:00 p.m., ABC's primetime numbers grew from the same Wednesday last year (5/31/06) by 1.9 million viewers (6.3 million vs. 4.4 million) and by 33% in Adults 18-49 (2.0/6 vs. 1.5/4).
"The Next Best Thing" (8:00-9:01 p.m.)
Up against the opening hour the 2-hour time period premiere of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance," ABC's debut airing of "The Next Best Thing" finished a strong second in its time period among Total Viewers (7.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.5/8).
� In its premiere telecast, "The Next Best Thing" generated ABC's largest audience and highest Adult 18-49 rating in the hour in nearly 5 months � since 1/10/07. The new unscripted series improved ABC's numbers in the hour from the same night a year ago by 3.9 million viewers and by 67% in Adults 18-49 (3.8 million & 1.5/5 on 5/31/06).
"Traveler" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
Building on its 9 o'clock lead-in by 1.4 million viewers and by 40% in young adults (replay of "Traveler" pilot episode = 4.9 million & 1.5/4), the time period premiere of ABC's "Traveler" took second place at 10:00 p.m. in Total Viewers (6.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.1/6).
� Versus its performance in the hour on the year-ago evening with an original episode and time period premiere of "Commander in Chief" (5.5 million & 1.6/4 on 5/31/06), "Traveler" boosted ABC's results in the time slot by 15% in Total Viewers and by 31% in Adults 18-49.
Thursday
"2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee" (8:00-10:12 p.m.)
Building viewer and young adult audience during each half-hour in a competitive time period, against CBS' series debut of "Pirate Masters" as well as Fox's "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" and "So You Think You Can Dance," ABC's broadcast of the "Scripps National Spelling Bee" attracted an average audience of 7.1 million viewers during its 2 hour and 12 minute telecast. The program earned a 2.0 rating, 6 share among Adults 18-49. Evan M. O'Dorney, a 13-year-old speller from Danville, Calif., won the "2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee." He was named the 2007 Champion in the 13th round after correctly spelling the word "serrefine," which is defined as "a small forceps for clamping a blood vessel."
� Steadily gaining audience throughout its broadcast, the "National Spelling Bee" grew by 3.5 million viewers (6.2 million to 9.7 million) and 94% in Adults 18-49 (1.6/6 to 3.1/9) from its first half-hour to its final quarter-hour. During its final 12 minutes (10:00-10:12 p.m.), as the field of finalists narrowed and the winner was decided, the "Bee" ranked as the No. 1 television program in Total Viewers (9.7 million) and across the adult demographics (AD18-34 � 2.6/8, AD18-49 � 3.1/9 and AD25-54 � 3.6/9).
Friday
"National Bingo Night" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
Building on its lead-in by 14% in Adults 18-49 (1.6/5 vs. 1.4/6), ABC's "National Bingo Night" took second in the 9 o'clock hour in the key sales demo.
"20/20" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
In the final hour of prime, ABC News' "20/20" led its time period and stood as the No. 1 program of the night among Adults 18-49 (2.0/6).
Sunday
"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m.)
ABC's repeat airing of "America's Funniest Home Videos" won the opening hour of Sunday's prime in Adults 18-49, leading its nearest competition in the time slot by 28% (1.8/6 vs. 1.4/5 � CBS).
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
The No 1 TV program on Sunday in Adults 18-49, ABC's replay "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" bested it closest competition in the 8 o'clock hour by 29% (2.2/7 vs. 1.7/5 � NBC). The broad appealing ABC unscripted series also qualified as the night's No. 1 broadcast with Kids 2-11 (1.7/6).
