BURBANK, Calif. January 9, 2007 NBC has won the week of January 1-7 in adults 18-49 with its highest weekly average in primetime's key demo in two years (excluding Olympics weeks), averaging a 4.2 rating, 11 share in 18-49 and 11.5 million viewers overall, according to "live plus same day" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. This was NBC's highest weekly average in adults 18-49 since the week of January 10, 2005.

NBC has now ranked #1 in adults 18-49 in four out of the last six weeks (including ties) and has ranked #2 the other two weeks.

NBC also ranked #1 for the week among adults 25-54 and total viewers.

Versus the comparable week last year, NBC is up 27 percent in adults 18-49 (4.2 vs. 3.3). This marks NBC's largest year-over-year growth for any week this season. NBC has been up year-over-year in 14 of 16 weeks so far this season.

Through 16 weeks of the 2006-07 television season, the ratings race is exceptionally tight in primetime's key demo, with NBC, ABC and CBS in a three-way tie, each averaging a 3.6/10 in adults 18-49 season-to-date. At this point last season (through 16 weeks), NBC was averaging a 3.1 in adults 18-49, 0.8 of a rating point behind second-place CBS (3.9) and 0.9 behind leader ABC (4.0).

For the first 16 weeks of the 2006-07 television season, NBC is the only network showing year-to-year gains in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49. NBC is up 16 percent versus the same period last year (3.6 rating versus 3.1). In that same comparison, ABC is down 10 percent, CBS is down 8 percent and Fox is down 3 percent. Season-to-date in total viewers only NBC and Fox are showing gains year-to-year. NBC is up 10 percent versus the opening 16 weeks of the last season (10.0 million vs. 9.1 million). Fox is up 3 percent by that measure, while CBS is down 5 percent and ABC is down 5 percent.

NBC is also the only network showing growth season-to-date among adults 18-34, up 20 percent versus the first 16 weeks of last season (3.0 vs. 2.5).

NBC's Saturday telecast of the NFL wild card playoff game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks was the #1 primetime telecast of the week in both adults 18-49 (10.0/28) and in overall viewers (26.8 million) (excludes Fox's Sunday NFL primetime overrun).

Primetime averages for the week of January 1-7 in adults 18-49 were NBC (4.2/11), Fox (4.0/10), CBS (3.1/8), ABC (2.9/7), Univision (1.5/4), CW (1.2/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In total viewers, this is NBC's first in-season weekly win, excluding Olympics, since the week of May 3-9, 2004 ("Friends" finale). Counting all weeks (in and out of season), NBC was most recently #1 in total viewers the week of September 4-10, 2006
