"GILMORE GIRLS" CLIMBS TO SEASON HIGHS; "VERONICA MARS" DELIVERS YEAR TO YEAR GAINS
"Gilmore Girls" Ranks Second in Women 18-34, Behind "Dancing With The Stars"
October 11, 2006 (Burbank, CA) -- The CW's "Gilmore Girls" climbed to season highs last night in adults 18-34 (2.3/7), women 18-34 (3.7/10), adults 18-49 (2.0/5-tie) and women 18-49 (3.1/8), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Tuesday, Oct. 10. Week to week, "Gilmore Girls" improved by 5% in adults 18-34, 9% in women 18-34, 5% in adults 18-49 and 7% in women 18-49.
Last night's "Gilmore Girls" ranked second in the hour with its target demo of women 18-34, behind only "Dancing With The Stars." "Gilmore Girls" was third from 8:00-9:00PM among adults 18-34 and women 18-49.
With "Gilmore Girls" as its lead-in, "Veronica Mars" scored impressive gains versus its year ago telecast on UPN (10/12/05) following "Top Model," up 15% in adults 18-34 (1.5/4), 33% in women 18-34 (2.4/7), 12% in women 18-49 (1.9/5). "Veronica Mars" improved over last week in women 18-34 (4%) and held 100% of its premiere audience in women 18-49.
Overall, The CW was second on the night in its target demo of women 18-34 (3.0/8-tie).
The combination of "Gilmore Girls" and "Veronica Mars" represents a vast improvement over UPN's Tuesday a year ago (10/11/05), with double digit gains of 73% in adults 18-34 (1.9/6), 76% in women 18-34, 70% in adults 18-49 (1.7/4), 56% in women 18-49 (2.5/6) and 72% in viewers (3.8million).
